Child Nutrition facilitator for Region 19 Head Start Program and Nutrition Service Area.

The child nutrition facilitator is responsible for the implementation of Nutrition services and any other nutrition related function of the Head Start Program. These functions refer to the five areas of expertise in nutrition, they are: Laws and regulations, Meal service, Special diets and or special dietary needs, Staff Development, nutrition education, community nutrition education, and kitchen operations for Early Head Start children (ages: 0-3 yrs.) and Regular Headstart (ages: 3-5 yrs.) .In order to deliver an optimum level of nutritional well being of children and their families, a true alliance with parents, caregivers, site staff, and community partners must be established. This will lay the foundation for early intervention, particularly to that which relates to feeding. The following are detailed tasks performed on a routine basis:

Plans and coordinates nutrition activities (national nutrition month, intellizeum-field trips, food service week preparation).

Completes monthly nutrition articles for the monthly newsletter.

Updates education curriculum on physical activity and nutrition, nutrition education activities for the Food Show (food tasting event) and Nutricise the border a city wide event.

Plans and evaluates the Staff development programs to meet training needs of Site Managers, Clerks, CORT’s, CCP’s, Teachers/TA, Cooks and food service drivers.

Plans, Coordinates, Implements, and evaluates Pre-services and In-services for Early Headstart and Regular Head Start
