About me….

I have always felt my calling in life was to serve those in need. Then I was inspired by empathy, compassion and the need to make a difference, so I decided to become a nurse. I have cared for patients at community health departments, patients at family owned facilities, even my very own family, and the most memorable part of their experience was the patient care they received.

This is truly my life’s work. Caring for people with compassion and integrity while earning the respect of my peers and patients is extremely rewarding and it is what drives my commitment to service and patient care.

MASTERED SKILLS

ORGANIZATION AND TIME MANAGEMENT

Working in an office environment that caters mostly to medical patients, I constantly have to multitask and reevaluate my assigned workload. Last minute assignments and schedule changes daily are a guarantee. I am able to adapt quickly, reprioritize and organize my new task—then execute efficiently. Staying prepared with systematic planning and scheduling helps me keep calm and stay on track when it does not seem like there is enough time in the workday.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Throughout the day I must speak with physicians, nurses, pharmacist, patients, my direct supervisor and other support staff in addition to coordinating between different departments; it is vital that I am able to relay crucial details clearly. Sometimes It is left up to me to explain complicated prescription instructions or treatment plans to patients. In addition, being an active, attentive listener is just as important. It is also my responsibility to accurately report any concerns the patient may have concerning their care, treatment plans or follow-up appointments.

CRITICAL THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING

Arriving to my work location, on a Monday to learn my co-worker would call out sick for the day, and all their daily task have been assigned to me; In addition, the physician for the day is also on call at another location. How quickly can I Identify the problem? How quickly can I find a “workable solution “? To keep up with the nonstop flow of patients during the day I must be able to think quickly, weigh pros and cons and make informed decisions.

LEADERSHIP

My strong leadership skills allow me to make hard decisions, communicate well, motivate my team mates, handle and delegate responsibilities and solve problems proactively. I am able to give rich, insightful peer to peer leadership when training new employees one on one or when leading group trainings for a room full of seasoned employees.
