EXPERIENCED SENIOR ENGINEER

Desired position is Senior Manufacturing Engineer having been in multiple Senior Process Engineering, Senior Manufacturing Engineering, and Senior Project Engineering roles.

Executed Medical remediation projects and moved product from and to multiple facilities to maintain highest possible quality of product and customer experience.

Worked with an entrepreneur from the ground up having begun with an empty room and a crude business plan, growing it to a multi million dollar company in less than 8 years.

Evaluated and prepared the facility for proper ESD control with appropriate Quality documentation, also performed as purchasing agent of components to produce the first run of product.

Executed documentation of the SMT, Auto and Hand Insertion, Wave solder, Final assembly, Testing, Quality, and Packaging processes for a well rounded understanding of the entire business.

Provided the education and training required for machine operation and Quality inspection processes on the floor.

Company and role description

(2013 - 2023) IRIDIUM COMMUNICATIONS LTD is a Satellite Comunications provider. My specific role was Supplier (Factory) Management and Manufacturing Engineering expert, also managed our small Production Engineering group.

Provided appropriate manufacturing engineering support improving quality of a product with a 30% return rate to achieve a less than 1.5% return rate from the field.

Heavily involved with the move of product from a Celestica facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia to the current Benchmark facility in Rakon Ratchasima, Thailand (Korat). My primary role was to ensure proper equipment was utilized and appropriate processes to manufacture the supporting RF ground equipment (handsets and IoT devices) for Iridium Communications.

Instrumental in moving the production of Iridium EAR product from Celestica in Austin, Texas to the Benchmark Facility in Rochester MN. Subsequently this product was moved to HDA, now Verigon in Tempe AZ to bring it closer to our home base.

Scope included Surface mount, Through-hole including Wave and Hand solder, and mechanical assembly with packaging.

Approve process documentation and define and implement an Assemble to Order process to open a new line of business for Iridium.

Manage implementation of programming robotics for IoT devices.

Senior Engineer

(2011 – 2013) JABIL CIRCUIT, INC. is a global contract manufacturer of Industrial, Medical, and ITAR products. My specialty was in the remediation of Medical products, i.e. replacement of improper components on field returns.

Worked with NPI to develop new products and introduce them to the production floor.

Onsite ROHS SME.

Project Engineer and Performed the duties of Manufacturing/Process Engineer.

Manufacturing Engineer

(2003 - 2011) CCK AUTOMATIONS, an OEM and contract manufacturer of robust electronics. Startup of a contract manufacturing side of a small OEM.

Drove the company from $150K per annum to $6M per annum in 8 years.

Designed the production floor from Surface Mount to Through hole to the final assembly and packaging and was instrumental in the execution of the startup phase of the business with primary supporting documentation and process with the goal of achieving ISO9001 compliance.

Primary equipment is DEK, Panasonic, Universal, and Assymtek, along with Electrovert waves and ACE selective solder.

Processes developed and maintained include No-Clean and Water Wash with Pb/Sn materials, and a ROHS compliant No-Clean process, all with ISO 9001 capability in mind.

Held titles of Director of Manufacturing, Quality Assurance Manager, Senior Production Engineer.

Senior Manufacturing Process Specialist

(2002 - 2003) SIEMENS MANUFACTURING, a contract manufacturer of robust electronics and gaming electronics.

Equipment modification, procedure and process development, and implementing a No-Clean process for building through hole printed circuit boards in a second location using Universal Insertion equipment.

Worked with a diverse group of people to manufacture a Through Hole to Final packaged product in a Kan/ban system.

Some hands on experience with FUJI SMT equipment.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

(1998 - 2002) ILLINI TECHNOLOGY/PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL (John Deere affiliate), a contract manufacturer of robust electronics for harsh environmental use.

Primary focus was to setup and maintain new equipment ( Three moves - Two new Surface Mount Lines).

Maintained a high quality production facility by improving work flow through the facility while increasing the quality of the product.

Introduces new processes, improving old processes, educating the operators for a better understanding of their position, and improving the use of DFM (Design For Manufacture).

The largest project was a heavy involvement with John Deere and their new FlexBox technology for sealed electronic control circuitry on the new 2003 John Deere tractors. This involved the design and operation of dedicated robotic equipment along with board handling equipment fabrication and modification.

Mentored other members of the Manufacturing Engineering staff as my role at Phoenix International became more mature.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

(1990 - 1998) GLENARYE ELECTRONICS (Previously QUINTRON), an OEM building transmitters for the paging community.

Automated test programming, equipment modification, procedure and process development, and implemented a No-Clean process for building printed circuit boards (the facility was previously Water Wash).

Worked in multiple departments ranging from Cabling to Through Hole to Final Assembly

Moved, set up, and qualified the entire Surface Mount Department multiple times and installed a new Panasonic Line.

Was third shift engineer on call for SMT and Final Test. By late 1998 I was Manufacturing Engineer for SMT as the "go to guy" for all three shifts managing approximately 15 people.
