Agriculture Major concentration in Food Bioscience at Tennessee State University with 3+ years in lab and research assistance experience. Worked with HACCP for 2 years and food quality assurance. Researched about hemp beginning with a simple hemp cannabis and conducted an experiment with hemp seeds and hemp flour using DPPH assay. Conducted research for sickle cell anemia patients in pediatrics. The Silent Infract Trial was a study conduct for patients at Vanderbilt University to spot silent strokes in sickle cell patients. Collecting and inputting data using excel and powerpoint. Analyzing images in the imagining department of sickle patients I begin to discover what patients had silent infract and which part were damaged.

I worked independently to run over a 100 patients imaging and survey current patients in client. I discovered many patients never knew they had a silent stroke until the study was conducted. Record data from a study of silent strokes in sickle cell patients. Study why silent strokes go unnoticed in children.

Excel sheets, record data on sickle cell patients in clinic I worked under an outstanding and very well known sickle cell doctor, Dr. Michael DeBaun. Work on the Silent Infract Trail (S.I.T trial)

Worked on a Grant for Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital for sickle cell patients called the Hamilton Grant that helped 20 families.

Joined the Junior League of Sickle and Asthma Program in 2015

Created a back to school event for kids in the community around north Nashville Tn.

Interned in a professional environment viewing imaging of damaging infracts of brains. Worked in professional medical offices, filling patients records, organized information for audits and created survey and study outline for families in apart of the Vanderbilt Imaging Institute.

HEMP DPPH ASSAY, TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY — 2018-2019

Conducted a hemp study. The purpose of this study was to assess the antioxidant activity of hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.) using measurable methods to get DPPH of hemp flour. DPPH is a free radical. The scavenging activity of the samples were measured by mixing the sample extracts with the DPPH solution to test how much free radicals were reduced. This was carried out by measuring the color reduction of DPPH using a spectrophotometer. The results were calculated using the equation for scavenging effect = (A0-(A-AB)/A0) X 100%. This project helps understand levels of the antioxidants that hemp presents. Hemp contains with antioxidants and phytochemical profiles. This study explained the health benefits of hemp seeds and may lead to promoting usage of hemp.
