Attention: Human Resources,
Thank you for taking the time to consider my resume for the advertised position.
I have 20 years of experience within the oilfield and transportation industries, as a health and
safety professional, as well as many years in the construction industry both managing and
training. I have taught such courses as: TDG, H2S, WHMIS, Fall Arrest, First Aid, Air Brakes,
class 1 & 3 and many others. I am very experienced doing logbook audits, fuel audits and safety
audits, (i.e.) (*CCOHS - audits and **NSC audits). I have built safety programs from initial start up to full completion, while helping firms obtain and maintain their COR through both, the
“AMTA” and “ACSA”.
I have studied “Taproot” investigation techniques. For every position I have had in the last 17
years, there has been some type of accident/incident investigation. I have taken part in
education (theory and practical) in root cause analysis, causation models such as Heinrich's
domino theory and Management Oversight and Risk Tree (MORT) and the 5-whys. I have
always worked with the investigation model that my employer has wanted me to use but at the
basic level, accident investigation is still about Security, Evidence gathering, data analysis and
root cause analysis and reporting and recommendations. No matter the theory, the main goal is
to prevent the [incident/accident] from repeating itself. I have attended and investigated more
then 35 separate incidents and accidents providing root cause analysis.
I have experience managing Comply Works, Avetta and Isnetworld as well as WCB file
maintenance, managing a company’s return to work and modified (work) duty programs. I
enjoy doing field safety audits and ensuring safe work policies, procedures and practices are
being adhered to on a full-time basis. I am an NCSO through the ACSA and studied for my
certificate through the U of A, in OH&S.
I am also a (retired), million-mile truck driver, while still maintaining my Class 1 driver's license
and a Red Seal Inter-Provincial Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic certification, which has proven a
useful skill-set on job sites with equipment break-downs. I am extremely hard working, very
dedicated to my craft, and painfully honest.
I would like the opportunity to sit down and discuss the position in more detail and how I can
be of assistance to your company in either, a face-to-face (and/or on Google Teams meetings)
interview.
Thanking you in advance,
William Giroux, NCSO, OH&S.
