Senior Project Manager (Division Engineering)

Project Lead for manufacturing equipment installations and commissioning exceeding $30M. This involved developing the overall project scope of work, managing overall project budget, directing and overseeing the activities of Corning engineers, technicians and outside contractors.

Provide engineering support for both facilities and chemtech groups within the OSS Department.

Leading design and commissioning of new C1 soft water system.

Led efforts focused on determining integrity of plant chill water piping system.

CORNING, INC., Hickory, NC: January, 2016 – March 2019

Senior Facilities Engineer

Managed daily and process improvement activities involving plant chiller, compressed air and overall comfort cooling systems.

Key member of facilities project team focused on the build out of a new manufacturing facility in Newton NC. Project involved the purchase of existing warehouse space and converting it into a full fiber optic manufacturing facility. My role involved leading project efforts to design and construct a class 100,000 cleanroom involving the installation of AHU’s, nitrogen and CO2 delivery systems, compressed air, and dust collection systems.

Managed the construction of a newly developed research lab for the Technology group. Project involved the reconstruction of an old warehouse space and converting it into a research lab that housed 2 productions lines. Work was accomplished by developing a clear project scope and working with a team of architects and construction personnel to develop the overall project schedule. Management of project funds and communicating to key stakeholders and plant staff on progress of project was also key. Project was delivered under budget and completed on time. Project budget was $1.2M.

Senior Quality Engineer / Supervisor

Leader of plant Quality Architecture program. Quality Architecture is a corporate wide quality system that utilizes process flow charting, FMEA, SPC, and in-depth process knowledge to help identify and control all manufacturing parameters known to affect a functional fiber attribute.

Reviewed all 30 division wide Quality Architecture documents to identify gaps that would allow poor quality fiber to be shipped to customers. Upon review completion, identified several major process operating systems that would allow low tension fiber to be shipped to customers. The identification and correction of these malfunctioning tension control systems helped to eliminate any additional cost above the $3.4 Million previously paid to customers due to their installation of low tension fiber in their cabling operations.

Provided technical support to the Textile Complex by conducting departmental trials.

Developed departmental 5 to 10 year capital & expense project plans

This project consisted of the complete renovation of 52 apartments within the Creekwood Apartment Complex for the Wilmington Housing Authority. The project involved demolishing 100% of the interior of each apartment down to the existing wood framing and installing new drywall, flooring, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, millwork and windows.

Project budget: $2.6 Million.

Brunswick County Gov’t Complex Cafeteria & Office Addition

Renovation of 9000 sf of cafeteria and public meeting area. The cafeteria was expanded utilizing existing space while the public meeting center was converted to a receptionist area and multiple offices.
