While I was working for Legacy Rehab, I worked with mentally retarded clients that had special needs. My shifts varied from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Sometimes I worked two shifts or 24-hour shifts for days. 12-hour shifts to 9:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. 7 days a week. My duties were to take care of my client’s needs throughout the shift which included getting them up in the morning, bathing them, changing diaper or depends, dressing them for the day, breakfast & noon meals, cleaning their room, taking them to various doctors’ appointments, making sure that their needs are taken care of for the shift, going to the store, cooking meals, and in the evening, changing them into night clothes.
