Duties: diagnose alcohol and/or drug affected clients who have been referred via self, Court, and/or parole/probation. Diagnosis occurs through ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) and the client is placed accordingly into a group which is based on curriculum of Evidence Based Practice. Caseload management of 30-40 clients creating case notes, audits when necessary and individual appointments monthly.

1997 – 2000

Alcohol & Drug Counselor I • STEPS to Freedom • Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution

I worked on a 70-bed pre-release, all male unit, of incarcerated inmates who had Addiction and criminal issues. In my position I taught Relapse Prevention, Recovery Lifestyle, HIV/Infectious Disease, basic Alcohol/Drug Use, Abuse and Addiction. I completed ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) on incarcerated inmates, based on their diagnosis they were placed accordingly into specific groups. I had a caseload of 20-30 persons, and I had to ensure I kept we case notes on each inmate and meet with each inmate monthly.

Practicum Student • Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution

Observe Alcohol/Drug treatment groups, stamp bibles, read treatment papers, participate in group therapy with the inmates as an observer.

I had to write weekly papers for my Practicum Student class on what I was doing and learning.
