PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

LOCKHEED MARTIN, Las Vegas, NV Apr 2021 – Nov 2023 Data Engineer

Data Engineer for Flight Test activities supporting daily flight test data center operations by preparing and post-processing flight test data products. Responsible for all phases of customer support as the local System Support Engineer representing Lockheed Martin's F-22 and F-35 data processing tools and systems. Responsibilities span all customer support activities as a funnel for new requirements and issue tracking to the development team, provider of training sessions (both formal and informal) to the customer, creator of recommendation reports to the customer, and act as the System Administration and IT System Build expert.

• Received, processed and troubleshot over 400 IRIG 106 formatted data products per established processes.

• Worked with the customer and provided a seamless solution to read the ext4 filesystem and transfer raw data to a windows network. A plug and play solution that automatically transmits data and prepares the assets for the next mission.

• Updated and maintained an Access mission product database to ensure the data library is efficient and reliable.

• Wrote a wrapper script using PowerShell, Pearl, Bash, and Batch to execute multiple data processing applications to speed production while minimizing data entry errors.

• Advised the customer and provided a programmatic solution to migrate data to another system saving them 1000+ man hours per year. This was a contributing factor that helped earn me a top performance award.

• Found deficiencies and provided solutions to the customers data processing tools and communicated this to the customer and those they serve. This resolve an issue where it was thought that the aircraft was not reliably providing the data requested.

Generate test plans/procedures, perform tests, analyze results, provide recommendations, and write test reports for GPS ground segment command (US Air Force), control, and monitoring software; verify that product is ready for use by customer. Provide system-level testing on GPS Arc Architecture Evolution Plan (AEP), GPS Information Network (GIN), Positional Training Environment (PTE), and Nuclear Detection (NUDET) software releases.

• Increased data availability of GIN output from 90% to nearly 100% after identifying an error in three lines of code, causing missing datasets. Wrote applications to capture binary data from a TCP/IP stream and create an index of each message contained in the stream, enabling easy examination in a hex editor.

• Increased data throughput of an application 300% and reduced testing time by two-thirds after discovering 500 lines of redundant error-checking code.

US NAVY, NAVAL AIR WEAPONS STATION, China Lake, CA Aug 2010 – Apr 2013 Aerospace Engineer

Participated in the Engineer and Scientist Development Program; contributed to projects alongside senior engineers. Key Projects:

• Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) - Used COMSOL, SolidWorks, and MATLAB to model and simulate various physical phenomena, including:

- Electromagnetic radiation and detection of subterranean objects (Ground-Penetrating Radar) in the presence of an interfering signal, used to establish methods for operating the radar while in the presence of jamming signals.

- Diurnal terrestrial heat model to determine time-dependent signature of various buried objects in infrared spectrum, used to improve airborne detection of buried devices.

- Blast model used to determine the strength of a shockwave as it passes through the human body, used in a traumatic brain injury (TBI) study.

• Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) – Utilized C++ and the Composite Hardbody and Missile Plume (CHAMP) program to refine a simulated infrared environment.

- Increased the efficiency of the C++ program used to develop the target models by reducing the number of calculations required to establish facet temperatures. Reduced calculation time for an image set from more than a day to just a few hours, in cases where the target occupied a large portion of the IR image.

- Evaluated effectiveness of using time domain Fourier Transformations on the IR video to aid in the detection of small waterborne targets. Made progress toward a solution that would focus on frequency of such targets and remove IR reflection from water.

• Irregular Warfare – Set up, maintained, and integrated payloads, in addition to creating test plans and monitoring / evaluating flight tests of a low-cost, unmanned flight test platform.

• Tactical Tomahawk Weapons System - Developed and presented flight test plans, monitored flight trajectory and critical data points for a safe test flight, and analyzed/reported on flight test data to analyze various attack scenarios for the US Navy Fleet Commanders.

Used Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Technical Standard Orders (TSO), and general engineering practices to produce technical orders (TOs) correcting service manual deficiencies and implement engineering changes.

• Provided oversight and direction on a DC-10-30 aircraft seating reconfiguration, which employed underutilized resources to minimize aircraft downtime.

• Designed and implemented a landing gear pin storage box in the nose wheel well of the Boeing 777 to reduce the risk of foreign-object damage to the aircraft. Ensured secure storage while keeping gear pin accessible to ground crews.

• Developed a placard used in all Continental aircraft to inform passengers of the correct orientation for luggage in overhead bins, increasing boarding efficiency.

Bachelor of Science, Aerospace Engineering; focus on Aircraft Structures and Aerodynamics

• Designed, built, and flew a model of a blended-wing body replacement for the Boeing 737-800. Preliminary design used DATCOM and vortex lattice analysis.

• Confirmed appropriate tail and control surface size and required deflections via aircraft stability and control analysis.

• Received Lowy Award for a student airplane design team for innovation, technical expertise, and teamwork. CompTIA Security+ Certification, valid through Apr 2025 FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA), Private Pilot Sep 2019 Part 107 (Remote Pilot) Nov 2019
