Responsible for classifying various Industrial products into the proper hazardous classification.

Classified over 500,000 Catalog and non-Catalog items for an Industrial Distributor, Identifying each product’s handling and shipping requirements. Products included Hazard Classes 1-9, Consumer Commodity ID8000, Limited Quantities, Lithium Batteries, Non-Dangerous Goods. Identifying which could be shipped by trucks, required specialized conditions, and specialized handling.

Utilized Haz-Shipper (Dangerous Goods Council), DGIS (Label Master) software compliance packages to record the requirements for each of the products so sales people and shipping people understand the handling and shipping requirements for each product.

Audited the work done by newer associates to make sure they were classifying materials accurately.

Knowledgeable in Lithium Battery technology and its shipping (ground, air, and vessel) requirements.

Expediting – Product Management 1997 - 1999

Confirmed receipt and acknowledgement of purchase orders to vendors along with the status and shipping dates.

Reviewed all Vendor P.O.’s, communicated with Vendors to confirm receipt and delivery dates, identified any open invoices either because of credit issues or late payment that might hold up shipping and resolved these issues in partnership with the Accounts Payable Department.

Identified over, short, damaged shipments (OSD) and wrong items shipped (WIS) and worked with Vendors and Purchasing staff to resolve those issues.

Worked with Receiving departments to prioritize urgently needed materials and get them to the proper places quickly.

Followed up with Vendors on high demand, out of stock or past due items to obtain expected shipment and delivery dates on domestic shipments.

Traffic/Logistics/Import Coordinator

Worked with Import Manager to review customs brokerage invoices for vessel shipments, confirming they reflected the correct product and ensured brokerage invoices were approved and paid for in a timely manner.
