Inseego Corp – San Diego CA – Staff software test Engineer – Oct 2018 to June 2023

• Lab testing for LTE and 5G hotspots for Verizon, AT & T, TMO and USCC.

• Support Conformance Testing at third party labs for Inseego 4g/5g products and IOT testing at Nokia and Ericsson labs.

• Lab testing on Keysight for mm wave (lte+8 nr) and sub6. Attach on Keysight and run iperf to achieve high thput d/l, u/l, tcp, udp, bi-directional and wifi.

• Analyze QXDM logs at physical layer for call processing on 4g/5g for attach, ue capability, band combos, 5g stack, finding 5g cell, beam assignment/measurement, rsrp, features supported.

Device supports nsa and sa. Use adb commands, reboot, write imei, nv items, QRCT tool.

• Device use QUALCOMM chipsets sdx50 and sdx55, sdx65 for mm wave and sub 6.

• Configure and run 5G protocol test cases 3GPP 38.523-1 using ME7834 .

• Configure and run 5G RF 3GPP TS 38.521-1 ( fr1 and fr2) using ME7873 -NR and MT8000A for different band combinations supported by device for 4g/5g hotspot on Anritsu system. Tests run manually and using automation. Run similar tests for standalone 5g.

• Collect logs both device and system. Analyze failures. Open jira tickets. Generate reports.

• Find bugs, follow up and triage of bugs. Follow up with bug fixes with various teams and close the bugs with validation and logical conclusions.

Inseego Corp - San Diego CA - Senior Systems Test Engineer Aug 2011 to September 2017

• Support GCF/PTCRB certification testing of WWAN products mifi hotspots and usb dongles.

• Support Certification testing at 7_layers, SGS, CETECOM and Tech Mahindra – NJ for 4G LTE products used at Carriers like Verizon, AT & T and Sprint.

• Testing includes verification of test plans in LTE Signaling protocol, LTE (RF), RRM tests, on multi cmw 500 and UICC (usim and usat) using IT3 Comprion . Devices use Qualcomm chipsets like 9x15, 9x25 and 9x45.

• Testing full Verizon test plans LTE Data Thput, LTE Data retry, LTE IMS retry on Rohde and Schwarz (cmw500) for conformance on Band 4 and Band13. Validate these test plans on Volte device to work on Verizon.

• Executed complete IMS_VOIP test plan on Ericsson Ran at Verizon Waltham lab. The tests include Ran enhancements tests like TTI bundling, rohc. IMS calls made and logs analyzed using QXDM, QCAT to test all features as per test plan. Pcap logs, wire shark.

• Executed complete 10776 Test plan for one Inseego device to work on AT & T Network.

• Create test plans and run 3GPP LTE RF on different bands, carrier aggregation tests using Rohde and Schwarz to support Verizon requirements using automation.

• Run 3gpp UMTS tests on Anite to verify device supporting requirements. CDMA throughput and cdma data throttling using Spirent.

• Pre-testing at labs in San Diego on different simulators Anite, Rohde and Schwarz and Anritsu before certification testing at third party test labs (SFN and full conformance).

• Generate reports from test results; review each test case run in all technologies.

• Executed wifi throughput tests using Dell wireless wlan card and webui to auto connect the device and run 1Xrtt, evdo rev-o and rev-a with and without diversity. The standard used is 802.11.ac using Spirent equipment.

• Supported lab entry tests at verizon labs for different mobile hot spots and usb dongles made by Inseego corp.

• Flash devices using config pro & configure devices using qxdm, qpst & set modem parameters using AT commands on HyperTerminal before start of test. Ensure device attaches on LTE call box before running automation for 3gpp and Verizon test plans. Verify all NV items before running tests.

• Validate PICS/PIXIT at Qualcomm lab for 2g/3g/4g to validate protocol conformance testing and run complete LTE protocol tests on layers l1, l2 and l3 at sd lab and conformance labs.

Pre analysis of failures using QCAT & QXDM. Report issues & logs to developers for further debugging of failures until resolution. Open jira tickets for failures.

• Run tests at Qualcomm labs after issues are reported to find root cause of failures.

• Attended 5G presentations and seminars from Rohde and Schwarz on LTE advanced features in Release 11, 12 and 13.

• Conducted protocol stack tests for 2G and 3G Android handheld devices for PTCRB and GCF certification using Anite SAS.

Performance testing

• Run Performance tests over the air for all types of calls like mobile originated, mobile terminated, data transfer, and SMS using live networks by running automated Perl scripts using ATM (Asia Test Manager).

• Using performance testing logs, generated performance metrics report (KPI’s- key performance indicators) and compared performance of different targets like throughput, call success rate, drop call rate, and handover success rate, etc.

• Perform Log analysis when test cases fail.

Parse logs using QCAT tool for call processing using filters.

. Worked on Qualcomm tools like QPST to load builds on different targets, backup and restore QCN.

Functional testing

• Execute GSM, GPRS and EDGE test cases using Agilent 8960 and Anite equipment.

• The test cases include Mobile originated, Mobile terminated, data calls, and FTP transfer on GSM, GPRS, and EDGE. Run automated tests using ATM (Asia test manager) which is Qualcomm proprietary tool.

• Run test cases using campaign manager on Anite SAS when automation fails.

• Perform Log analysis when test cases fail.

• Tested different targets like Brew, Smart phones, and Windows mobile after loading builds using JTAG. Loaded Android builds on 7K targets. Create trouble tickets on failures and report crashes to stability team.

Product Testing

• Performed product tests (stress and stability) on different targets. The tests include testing different multimedia applications like Qcamera, Qcamcorder, media player, SMS, video telephony, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS and voice calls.. Run automated tests over DOS using pneumatic key pressers over 24 hr cycles. Perl scripts written for these applications.

Senior Engineer Qualcomm Inc (Technical support and system test for Globalstar satellite gateways - Qualcomm’s IS-95 CDMA IP based subsystem which operates in C, L and S bands), Mar 2000 to April 2007

• Tested gateway CCA’s like modulators, demodulator, forward link and reverse link packet consolidation cards, controllers for Rx shelf, GREC cards using automated Unix scripts. Performed XBU upgrade on these cards and monitored ROM logs for fault isolation.

• Customer support for all gateways worldwide and resolved issues during call process.

• Generated reports on performance issues like success rate of calls on forward link and reverse link, radio link failures etc.

• Troubleshoot Gateway problems and resolve service outages as a technical expert to bring Gateway back to service. Ensure gateway is making IS-41 and GSM calls.
