Lab Assistant/Histology Technician/Phlebotomist- HCA Doctors Hospital of Sarasota April 2023-Current

-Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and infection control practices. Receive, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring appropriate storage conditions and accurate documentation of sample information.

-Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure proper functioning to support accurate test results. Accurately record patient and specimen information into the laboratory information system, maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

I handle biological tissue samples from patients. I'm responsible for processing these samples so that they can be examined under a microscope by pathologists. This involves various techniques like tissue sectioning, staining, and mounting. Essentially, I play a crucial role in helping diagnose diseases and conditions by ensuring the tissue samples are prepared accurately and effectively for microscopic analysis

-Prepare send out of tissue, slides and blocks per CAP/TJC/HCA guideline.

-Compliance with current CAP checklists for Anatomic pathology, All Common and Non-GYN cytology

The primary responsibility of a medical scribe is to document patient encounters in real-time. They record details of the medical visit, including the chief complaint, medical history, physical examination findings, test results, treatments, and follow-up plans. I also am required to utilize the electronic health record systems (ranging from OncoEMR to Athena) to input patient information accurately. Was able to do this online and in-person.

Tissue Recovery Technician Connect Life/UNYTS

Practiced aseptic surgical tissue procurements for research and/or medical use. Recover tissues on a full-time basis with daily exposure to mucous membranes/skin contact with blood, body fluids and or organs (Bloodborne pathogen class I). Some of the tissues recovered include: full thickness skin, nerve, heart, saphenous/femoral veins, aortoiliac, juvenile cartilage, split thickness skin, vertebral bodies, joint restoration. Ability to maintain/obtain the certifications required. Participate as a member of the tissue procurement team, ensure proper reconstruction of donor and recovery and package donated human tissue within a timely manner. Ensure compliance with AATB, EBAA, Federal and Upstate NYS standards for eye and tissue recovery. Education
