Other Notable Accomplishments

I have actively served in leadership roles on several national, state, and local committees and boards over the course of my career, in voluntary, non- compensated roles, including, but not limited to Programmatic Specialist for Accrediting Board of Health Education Schools (ABHES), RACE Continuing Education Committee member of American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB), AAVSB National Board Exam developer/writer for the VTNE, Executive Board Member of Association of Veterinary Technician Educators (AVTE), and President of Texas Association of Registered Veterinary Technicians (TARVT) where I lobbied at the Capitol in Austin with legislators for passage of HB 1621, relating to the regulation and practice of veterinary medicine, successfully requiring registered veterinary technicians to become licensed under the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. My greatest passion is setting goals, developing action plans, and outlining the steps toward change that makes quality education accessible to the people of our state and country with sustainable outcomes. I ensure continued success by setting solid, objective benchmarks and milestones that I use in evaluation and assessment of progress. I also anticipate risks and preemptively develop contingency plans to make improvements as challenges and areas of opportunity are identified. I have been very successful in this strategy over the course of my career. At Pima Medical Institute (PMI), for example, I maintained 100% job placement rate, between 78% and 100% national/state credentialing rate, 80% to 100% student retention rate, and 96% to 100% graduate satisfaction rate from the time I started the veterinary technician associate degree program in early 2014 until I resigned in 2021. I utilized program analysis and an Agile strategy to improve student retention in the existing veterinary assistant certificate program that consistently fell below the 70% benchmark prior to 2014. By 2015, retention increased to 78% and continued to stay at or above 78% during the rest of my tenure at PMI. I attribute my success to the continued trust and commitment of my team and stakeholders. I consistently received excellent and

“exceeds expectations” scores on my annual performance reviews. The CEO of the company sent me to sister campuses to help other leaders improve their performance as well. The company surprised me with a 5-day, 5-night all-inclusive vacation cruise to Cabo San Lucas for my performance. I am also very passionate about training other educators and developing training of all types for continuing education, higher education, corporate learning and development, and professional development. I enjoy using my graphic design abilities, knowledge in adult learning principles and theory, experience with transformative teaching and leadership, and advanced technology to create courses for adults and adolescents that are engaging, impactful, and memorable. I pride myself in looking beyond traditional instructional methods of reading assignments, writing research papers, and written summative assessments and developing instructional content that engages the current generation of learners. I have heard many educators complain that today’s learner is apathetic, doesn’t want to read, and doesn’t perform well in training. I set out early in my career to disprove this theory and I am proud to say that I have developed what I like to call “transformative” learning experiences that engage learners through emotions, life-like experiences and scenarios, problem-solving activities, and other relevant activities that naturally result in learning and inspire them to make a deliberate effort to learn the rest. I would love to outline objective goals and action plans to help other educators utilize these effective, engaging strategies for educating adults and adolescents.

I love challenges! I take pride in fearlessly and independently planning and finding resources needed to learn new skills in response to my own natural curiosity and interests, or to advance my career skills. I like to push the limits and find new ways of doing old things with minimal resources. Although I consider myself to be a creative person with advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills, I believe the key to learning new skills is being able to recognize expertise in others and talking to them about what you want to learn. Tapping into the knowledge and expertise of people from other cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, industries, and generations, is critical in our world today. The following are examples of projects I have successfully undertaken for leisure learning.

o Successfully started and branded my own LLC business in 2019 all through research of my own, without assistance of other professionals. It does not take time away from normal working hours. I currently use it for hobby purposes. o I have advanced knowledge and experience in e-commerce across many platforms including legalities (i.e. tax laws, trademarks, copyright, import/export rules, and more), different ecommerce selling methodologies (i.e. drop shipping, affiliate marketing, direct sales, Amazon FBA and FBS, etc.) industry terminology, market analytics, SEO – search engine optimization, economics of selling platforms, supply chain, logistics, sourcing, the process of overseas acquisition, managing inventory, marketing, and more. My expertise is strongest in apparel, resale, and customized product marketing.
