Logistics Manager with the General Services Department - Lusail

Logistics Manager in Qatar “Gold Line Metro” April 2014- January 2016

The lump sum value of the Gold Line Metro Project in Doha is 4.5 billion $.

The major logistics challenges of this project were:

The transport and storage of 5 million cubic meters of excavated material, both from stations boxes and Tunnel Boring Machines.

The transport to the metro station of 1.6 million cubic meters of concrete, material used for the structural works.

Erecting and administrating a labor camp able to accommodate 3,500 workers.

Importations of all required equipment and materials, among which I would mention: 6 Tunnel Boring Machines (500 tons each).

Materials control activities on 12 working sites.

Sites services on 12 working sites (water, power, diesel, labor transport, etc.)

Managing the Logistics Team, I developed and lead to the execution the Project Logistics Plan as well as all other required documentation: TBM Transport Plan, Method statements, etc.

Through rigorous analysis I was able to find root causes of project’s issues and apply creative problem-solving and solution design. I have also worked to validate the solutions by broadly consulting project’s stakeholders and secure their support.

To reduce costs, I focused on: staff safety, bottlenecks elimination, inventory control, labor costs, suppliers cost reduction, consistently generate backup plans.

Country Logistics Manager in Algeria, “Petrofac E&C”- UAE September 2010- March 2014

“Petrofac E&C” is a world leader in EPC projects. Our mission in Algeria is to provide logistical support to the erection of a Gas Compression Plant located in In Salah, with a total value of 2 billion $ and a Processing Facility for oil and gas located in El Merk, with a total value of 2.2 billion $.

Reporting to the Country Manager I was responsible for:

Managing Algerian logistics team of 15 persons + 2 persons in Tunisia. With this team I exercise the control over a number of 800 people belonging to subcontractors.

Providing coverage for all the ports and airports related to the import of materials and machines (containers, break bulk and heavy lift) used in the two projects mentioned above (Annaba Port, Skikda Port, Arzew Port, Algiers Airport, Hassi Messaoud Airport and Rades Port in Tunisia).

Generating and implementing procedures related to import-export activities, archive and taxes.

Supervising the accountancy activities related to import taxes and VAT.

Coordinating and supervising the customs clearing process.

Negotiating and supervising the contracts related to third-party logistics companies.

Evaluating the costs and efficiency related to the 3PL companies.

Developing coverage in all situations concerning accidents, damaged cargo and insurance claims.

Developing and executing the distribution plan assisted by a team of 3 persons.

“DSU- ThyssenKrupp” is a “Blue chip” company, part of a legendary group of companies based in Germany and with branches all over the world.

The main activity consists in :

1.Open pit mining and processing the industrial waste.

2.Transforming the industrial waste into construction materials and raw materials.

The operation was based in “ArcelorMittal” Steel Plant from Galati-Romania and involves the processing of 1.5 million tons of slag/year and 300,000 tons of metal scrap/year.

Reporting to the General Manager I was in charge with:

Importing the processing installation, materials and equipment from Germany.

Customs clearing the installation and all the equipment and materials, transport to site and providing assistance during plant erection.

Designing the storage area and implementing the stock control procedures.

Drafting, negotiating and supervising the contracts regarding 3PL companies.

Putting in place and operating the laboratory related to quality control activities.

Providing support to the products homologation and certification in Romania.

Managing the delivery of 1.5 million tons of slag/year.
