Objective Seeking an employment opportunity utilizing my prior experiences, training, and skills, as well as my considerable efforts and continuing education opportunities, to make significant contributions to my employer and the community that it serves.

Education Pursuing Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Education Degree from The University of Tennessee, Martin; Graduation Spring 2024.

GPA 3.56

Experience Tennessee State Bank, 1984-1986. As a full-time Teller/Cashier, providing exceptional customer service, I was responsible for deposits, withdrawals, account inquiries, returned checks, money orders, cashier checks, safe deposit boxes, creation and management of CDs, and all other services and benefits available to current and prospective customers of the bank. In addition, as relief and back-up to the full-time receptionist, becoming the front-line representative of the bank to in-person and telephone customers, I worked to present my employer as the best bank available in the community, and reached that goal through increased quantities of customers and deposits during my tenure there.

Special Services Education, University of Tennessee, October 1986– October 1994. Originally hired to provide administrative support for three major state and/or federally grant-funded projects, I provided both clerical and accounting services, including, but not limited to, proposals, budgets, documentation and accounting records, and oversight of expenditures and balances. Inspired to be as valuable as possible in this position, I researched and confirmed full compliance with university policy and procedures, state and federal regulations and all official documentation requirements, as well as serving as liaison among faculty, UTK Office of Research, state and federal agencies and the Tennessee Department of Education. Over the years of my employment, I became responsible for balancing all budgets and grant accounts and functions, including creating full documentation at the end of each UTK fiscal year, at the end of each individual grant period, and as each grant fulfilled its creation and closed. I increased my worth in this position from merely typing documents, reports, and correspondence to drafting, composing, preparing and disseminating these items. In addition, I collected, completed, processed, and circulated for approval all pertinent forms relating to official travel, personnel action forms, invoices, and extra-service pay, as well as providing all required assistance to faculty and students working on these grants or funded by them. During this period, the Job Title of my position changed multiple times as my duties and obligations increased, as my abilities and proficiencies increased, and as I achieved multiple levels of success and accomplishments including receiving the designation of Certified Professional Secretary in May 1991, culminating in this position with the title of Principal Secretary.

Theory and Practice in Teacher Education, University of Tennessee, October 1994 – April 2019 (retired). Originally created to provide administrative support to faculty and students, responsibilities regularly increased to include creation and dissemination of letters and reports, petty cash processing, transfer vouchers, and all travel-related documentation, including, but not limited to direct bill of airfare, requests for special payments, prepayment of conference registrations, documentation, processing, and submission of travel reimbursement requests. I moved from creating and submitting faculty book orders for all classes to training and assisting faculty to complete expedited on-line forms for this purpose. I creatively planned, coordinated, monitored all special events for the academic programs I served. All relevant faculty and students were regularly apprised of deadlines, policies and procedures, budgets, expenditures, class schedules, capacities, and room assignments. On behalf of faculty, I did the actual ordering of required materials and supplies – beginning with hard copy orders in the early years, moving to telephone, FAX, and email orders, and finally to on-line orders. With the advent of University Procurement Cards (credit cards), I processed all orders, payments, statements and submitted those on behalf of our programs. I regularly worked in IRIS reconciling ledgers, processing travel and contracts. I collected and paid advertisements and served as layout designer for a refereed journal, “The Echo.” I collected pertinent information and compiled and submitted all required management reports on our programs to the Department, College and University. I became the point person for all required student forms, proof-read and edited them for accuracy and compliance, obtained all required signatures and documentation and processed and submitted them to all necessary parties/entities. Although the technology changed multiple times, I assisted students with Admission documents, class schedules and records, including adding/removing students from classes. I was the first line of service for the programs and faculty involved, answering in person, email, US Mail, and telephone inquiries, scheduling appointments and everything professors and/or students needed from me to achieve their goals. My goal was always to achieve new and ever higher levels of success and accomplishment – for myself, the programs, Department, College, University and Community. Although the Job Titles and Pay Schedules changed multiple times while I held this position, culminating with the title of Administrative Specialist I, it has always been my efforts and accomplishments, and my willingness to increase my own responsibilities following the specifications and protocols of each successive promotion that required the higher levels in Job Title and increased Pay Schedules for this position.

University Physicians’ Associates, November 2021 – October 2022. Although this job was predominantly customer service oriented around patients and their records, the duties were varied, and included (1) Answering telephone calls to advise and schedule patient appointments; delivering appointment reminders, and updating pertinent appointment information via Open Dental Software and Intergy EHR Software; (2) complying with state guidelines, compiling and reporting patient demographics quarterly via Excel; (3) collecting general patient information via conversation or pre-printed forms, entering that data into the records system and scanning into patient portal for general access and acquisition; (3) assisting in creation of medical charts and files for new patients, updating charts and files for existing patients, pulling and replacing any files as needed in the general course of business so that all records are accurately filed and easily accessible when needed; (4) served as general assistant for telephone contacts for both medical and dental services, taking and receiving calls, accessing and relaying information among callers and staff members, updating call documentation and transferring calls as required.

The Math Place, The University of Tennessee, February 2023 – Present. Oversee The Math Place for check-ins, efficiency, tutor availability, and compiling and submitting payroll in Google Docs to the Math Department. Available to assist the Director in any/all needs.

Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and multiple other technology programs and communication formats; efficiency in time management, organization, multi-tasking, teamwork, problem solving, and result-focused activities; exceptional customer service skills; and professionalism in appearance, conduct, behavior, and attitude.

Activities I enjoy planning and executing travel; water sports, such as fishing and boating; gardening; cooking; and spending time with my family.
