BIO

Ken Dillon, co-founder of DRT has over 30 years of fluid power experience and knowledge. He earned an Applied Science degree in Fluid Power Technology from Spokane Community College. In addition, he has completed continuing education courses in mechanical engineering and mathematics at Green River Community College in Kent, WA. He began his career in 1989 with The Robbins Company in Kent, WA. Ken hired into the company as an Assembly Specialist responsible for shop assembly of hydraulically powered TBM’s. He also performed troubleshooting and adjusted controls at machine start up.

In 1990, Ken was promoted to Hydraulic Designer where he was responsible for organizing drafting personnel and review drawing accuracy upon completion. He also worked to design and create engineering drawings consisting of hydraulic schematics, hydraulic power unit assemblies and hydraulic system assemblies.

Ken’s next promotion came in 1992 when he was awarded the Sr. Hydraulic Designer position. He was required to coordinate multiple hydraulic system designs using contract engineering and drafting support as required delivering the finished product to their customers on an international level. This was to include written functional descriptions and interlock summaries of the full range of Robbins mining machines. In addition, Ken has conducted field troubleshooting and customer training seminars in many countries including but not limited to South Korea, Switzerland, China, Australia, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Turkey and India.

In 1994 Ken was elevated to Sr. Staff Engineer where he coordinated multiple hydraulic system designs and acted as engineering liaison between hydraulic & electric staff, mechanical design, shop personnel and field service. Ken also maintained international customer relations consisting of field troubleshooting, spare parts sales, customer training seminars and maintenance manuals.

Ken took the opportunity to work for one of his vendors in 1995 when he accepted the Engineering Manager position with SAS Fluid Power. He was responsible for engineering, production/manufacturing, field service, electronic controls and repair divisions for the entire SAS Corporation as well as creating and maintaining budgets for each of these divisions. Additionally, Ken was responsible for international customer relations to include sales, field troubleshooting and training abroad. While employed at SAS, Ken was able to create and foster relations with Construction Tunneling Services and Herrenkenekt. He designed, supplied and supported hydraulic, pneumatic, grease and lubrication systems for these companies through multiple projects.

Ken resigned in 2003 to co-found DRT Fluid Power, LLC. While owning DRT, Ken was able to maintain all of the above relationships while supporting many contractors in the construction and tunneling industries. While growing DRT Fluid Power, Ken has been able to create new relations with companies such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Obayashi, Kiewit Underground, and Frontier Kemper. He is known throughout the industry for giving excellent after the sale support on all of his system designs and components.

Recently, DRT Fluid Power was acquired by Western Integrated Technologies (WIT). Ken worked with Western integrated for 4 years before branching out to form Dillon Fluid Power.
