Serve as an Agile Coach in formally supporting multiple concurrent teams through coaching/ mentoring or training as part of SAFe/Agile transformation. Participated as an ad-hoc consultant for teams as needed.
SAFe/ Agile Coach/Release Train Engineer supporting 8 teams (1 ART) in the Phoenix Hub Systems Department.
Coached/ trained/ mentored more than 50 teams on the proper application of SAFe/ Agile/ Lean/ Scrum practices.
Conducted 16-20 agile training classes/workshops per year. Wrote and/ or revised the internally developed training to ensure supportive training experiences.
Customer Identity Management (CIM) Program Manager (2014 – 2018)
Built and lead the IT program agile digital transformation consisting of three teams that were new to SAFe/ Agile/ DevOps practices. Managed the $5M program budget, scope and delivery schedule/project plan (using Primavera). Included ITSM and ITIL practices/procedures
Reconfigured 100+ people working on the Customer Identity Management Application into a SAFe program with cross-functional development teams. Increased delivery from 1-2 times per year to 2-3 times per month over the course of 6-month program transformation.
Assembled a Future Leader Development Program to ensure that leaders had adequately demonstrated competencies and were prepared for interviews. Seventeen “graduates” were hired into management with a 100% success rate.
Developed the CIM “one-backlog” consolidating 4 lists of requirements into one prioritized list that clarified what was most important and allowed less waste time on less valued work. Cleared the way for a deployment in less than 30 days.
Systems Project Manager and Scrum Master, (2004 – 2014)
Served as a Project Manager for a variety of customer facing and infrastructure critical efforts while coaching and training teams on the implementation of agile practices. Included negotiating and managing contracts and utilizing off-shore resources for the development of project components. Managed multi-million-dollar budget and schedule activities using Primavera.
Delivered over 15 Significant Information Technology Program/Projects ranging from highly regulated Bank projects to State Farm Infrastructure efforts. Provided value in excess of $30M. Contract administrator for 6 off-shore efforts to expand capacity.
Developed new approach that allowed for offshore/ off-site teams to deliver in an agile fashion ensuring core product was always functioning.
Redesigned an approach where 3 offshore teams were delivering different pieces of a product under different contracts so that it was combined under one vendor and one contract. Reduced cost of delivery by $600k and the risk of integration by pushing that responsibility to the vendor.
Implemented an approach to vendor product delivery whereby any failed deliverable from the vendor was considered mutual failure. This pushed our teams to work more closely with the vendor to ensure success and changed the failure rate from approximately 60% to less than 5%.
Proposed an innovative static testing approach for a project that saved 3 months of time and $300k.
First to implement the agile practices of continuous integration and acceptance test driven development at State Farm.
