The Advertising Council, New York, NY, 06/04 – 06/14 Senior Art Director
Served as the creative force responsible for overseeing the brand and its visual world from an in-house perspective. Played an essential role in the strategy, conception, and overall design crucial to building the Ad Council’s reputation for groundbreaking, influential work. Collaborated cross-functionally with C-Suite executives, campaign managers, and fundraising leaders on campaigns. Provided leadership to direct reports, developed smart concepts, and pushed ideas through to the final required outputs. Translated complex strategic approaches into easily accessible creative concepts, clearly presenting ideas in a way that built excitement among the team. Worked to establish brand differentiating creative and experience strategies, bringing strong conceptual thinking, data-informed insights, and innovative solutions to drive business decisions beyond what was expected. Adopted a user-centered design approach to rapidly test and iterate designs.
Key Contributions:
• Developed Brand Guidelines, Media Standards Guidelines, Annual Reports, Public Service Awards Dinner Brand, PR Kits, Media Kits, HR Book, Stationary System, Presentations, PSA Central Brand, and PSAnalytics Brand.
• Engaged with industry leaders in outdoor advertising to develop best practices, review, and critique creative for public service ads.
• Led a team of in-house and freelance designers, providing artistic guidance, daily project management, and a focus on their overall professional development.
• Advised cross-departmentally with C-Level, Campaign Management, PR, Interactive, Media, Media Measurement, HR, and Finance and Development to ensure the enterprise brand was properly integrated.
• Developed Infographics, snackable content, and campaign related graphics to create awareness and promote Ad Council brand as well as 40+ PSA campaigns represented nationally.
• Integrated QR codes into pedestrian focused out-of-home ads, directing viewers to site specific content that supported the campaigns message.
• Contributed to Creative Department's revenue growth of 25% in three years, through reassessing pricing structure based on industry standards and expanding creative capabilities into digital and interactive platforms.
• Created sitemap, wireframe and overall design of the website, and downloadable PDF of each media sections, editable forms, and ready to use brand assets.
• For nine years, created a comprehensive visual brand for the Ad Council’s Public Service Award Dinner, the company's largest yearly fundraiser.
• Conceptualized and developed the yearly annual report theme and content to bring to light the key issues of the year, including art direct photography, illustrations, and overall design to showcase 40+ campaigns, research results, testimonials, financials, organizational committees, board members, and staff.
