8.Did considerable work on problems with bag making and other converting applications as no one else seem to understand the problems.

Solvay Corporation in Houston, Texas (1980-1989) Title: Technical Manager

Film Division of Hedwin Corporation.

Duties:

1.Designed and described the type of production cast film equipment to be purchased for producing various polypropylene cast film to be used primarily in the Photopocket film applications. (The polypropylene film was a replacement for PVC which was more expensive and more difficult to fabricate.)

2.Work with Solvay Germany to define the equipment and obtained almost 90% of what we wanted and we purchased this cast film equipment and installed it in La Port, Indiana.

3.Were able to startup equipment and make prime film within 2 hours after the initial start up. (This was out-standing because normally it would take about 2 weeks to make Prime grade salable film.)

4.Recycled all of the trim back into the product at a 10 % or less and still produced prime grade film.

5.Secure a second source of polypropylene (a competitor of Solvay) which preformed better that the Solvay grade.

6. The competitive product was cheaper.

7.Negotiated a rebate for our division.

Title: Supervisor

1. Became leader of a Quality Control laboratory. I was in-charge of 6 people.

2.Reviewed all procedures and ran each for accuracy.

3.Updated and added several new procedures.

4.Documented everything carefully.

5.Wrote tests for GC, HPLC, LC, and Universal Testing machine Instron(used for Physical testing, Tear, peal, Tensile, and Rheology. Used a lc to determine Molecular weight distribution of various polyolefins.

Solvay Polymers Division, in Houston, Texas (1980-1977) Title: Senior Research Chemist

Duties:

1.Developed new polypropylene grades for film applications. (Solvay had no good film grade polypropylene.)

2.Develop 3 excellent film grades and got them approved at multiple major film producers.

3.Developed several injection molding grades and got them approved at various customers.

4.Did Technical service and Development work for film, extrusion coating, injection molding and blow molding.

5.Developed a very high quality (high profit) extrusion coating grade of polypropylene.

6.Supported the injection molding, thermoforming, blow molding and extrusion coating applications at multi-customer locations.

7.Did lots of troubleshooting on each application including their downstream converting equipment.

8. Developed a novel approach for the manufacture of a high ethylene content random copolymer of polypropylene .

9.Developed 4 unique high ethylene film grades and two unique high ethylene extrusion coating polypropylene grades.

Cities Service Company in Lake Charles, La. (1977-1975) Title: Senior Staff Engineer

Duties:

1. Did technical service and development on LDPE grades for the film applications, injection molding applications, blow molding applications and thermoforming applications. Got several LDPE grades approved at various customers.

2.Worked in the Northeast on injection molding customer applications and their related converting equipment.

3.Developed two new LDPE film grades and got them approved at several customers.

4.Developed a LDPE blend suitable for high speed very large blown film equipment.

5.Did a very large market review on the impact of Linear Low Density Polyethylene. This report actually predicted the results that did occur.

St. Regis Paper Company Plastics Division in Dallas, Texas (1970-1975) Title: Product Development Supervisor

Duties:

1.Developed and troubleshot problems associated with processing and co-extrusion of all St Regis Cast film products.

2.Developed new oxygen barrier film products for the meat packaging application. Got the film approved for several meat wrap applications.

3.Developed tough films for the stretch wrap application

4.Worked with the makers of stretch wrap equipment to make sure the film worked on their equipment and got films approved at several Stretch wrap equipment makers.

5.Developed high clarity film for the bread packaging application.

6.Developed coextruded films to replace the paper and tinfoil used in candy applications. Got films approved at several customers.

7.Developed a coextruded LDPE to replace PVC films for meat wrap.

8.Documented all work very carefully.

9.Developed a unique peal-able seal for the potato chip bags application for Frito-Lay.

Dow Chemical: in Freeport, Texas (1965-1970)

Title: Development Chemist

Duties:

1. Purchased an injection molding machine and mold and installed it at the research facility.

2.Developed a flat (high clarity)coffee can lid grade LDPE.

3.Got the coffee Lid LDPE approved at several suppliers.

4. Developed several high haze injection molding grades. Got several approved at several customers.

5.Assisted the Technical Service group in troubleshooting injection molding applications.

6.Built a blown film unit and was one of the first to make wrinkle-free HDPE blown film using a high stalk method.

7.Documented and reported all developments.

Title: Supervisor:

1.Setup and wrote the procedures for a 6 person analytical laboratory.

2.Hired the techs and taught them the procedures.

3.Documented everything carefully and did a constant review to be sure everything was up to date and working as needed.

4.Reviewed constantly to see if new procedures were needed for the HPLC, GC, LC, and other.

Title: Supervisor High Pressure polyethylene pilot plant

Duties:

1.Was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the research pilot plant and its 5 employees.

2.Most of this research was defined by management with input from everyone in the research area.

3. Help to define some of the variables associated with free radical polymerization of ethylene.

4.Studied and reported on the effects of various pressures on reaction kinetics.

Title: Market Development Manager

Duties:

1.Was the plant manager and Safety Coordinator for the LDPE /Dursban impregnated polymer for producing film suitable for banana shroud application. (This shroud protected the bananas from insect damage during shipment.)

2.Defined and corrected the problem of employees excessive exposure to Dursban.

3.Help the plant and it employees to continue with a safe operation and little to no exposure to the Dursban.

4.Documented all procedures and techniques necessary for the safe continuous operation of the market development plant.
