Engaged as a Construction manager and handled projects such as the renovation to the Capitol building in Atlanta including the renovation and complete repair to the tower statue by removing it from the roof and shipping it to Canada to be rebuilt and strengthened at a facility in that country.

Was responsible as Project Manager on the Union Hotel renovation project in Nashville which is a historic building and great care had to be taken to the repairs and replacement of parts that had to be undertaken on the site.

Was responsible as Project Manager on the extensive renovations being carried out on the circular Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel in Atlanta

Carried out preparation of construction documents and handled payment claims as well as change orders as required. The company was responsible for constructing prisons, schools, hotel projects and loft condominiums around the Atlanta area.

Bid on and successfully won numerous residential contracts. Also successfully bid on condominium and resort renovations.

Engaged by the Royal family of Qatar to construct a new golf course and clubhouse, as well as construction of a new metal structure to house all the electrical generators

Holiday Development, Bahamas 1990-1993

Construction Manager

Engaged to handle all existing projects on the island of New Providence and to set up and improve relationships with the Government and private clients for new projects of which there were many as a result of a considerable change in the new Government. Also responsible for the pricing of new projects ensuring competitive pricing being established in a tight and competitive market.

Analyzed profitability, market conditions and consumer trend impact on long and short-term strategies. Constructed several school projects, including multiple residential projects, the local straw market and successfully bid on the Divi Project on the island.

Effectively supervised team performance by implementing measurable metrics to assess delivery of project requirements.

Successfully assisted the new team that was engaged by the owner of the Atlantis project on Paradise Island to handle all their projects on a Construction Management basis rather than bidding with contractors which included the twin towers, marina and access roads for the initial budget of $450 Million.

Divi Hotels, Miami 1988-1989

Construction Manager

Appointed as Construction and Project Manager for the development of construction and renovation projects on eight different islands in the Caribbean. The projects were completed during the period of 1987-1989 with a construction budget of $100 Million over the two year period. The projects included the construction of 102 new rooms at Divi Little Bay, St. Maarten, Construction of 16 new timeshare units at Divi, St. Croix as well as renovation of 42 existing rooms and construction of 120 new rooms, South Ocean Beach on Nassau Bahamas which was 129 new rooms, marina and dive and canal construction and is now called Albany, Divi Divi and Tamarijn Aruba, Anchorage Hotel on Antigua, Divi Barbados and Ocean Club on Providenciales in Turks and Caicos.

Responsible for the preparation of all construction documents such as bid documents, construction agreements, and all project management techniques, payment schedules and progress charts.

Effectively supervised team performance on all projects which included new construction as well as renovations of rooms, casinos, water plants, sewage disposal plants, beach erosion prevention systems, kitchens and general resort facilities.

Identified all risks, prepared budgets and coordinated with the management and audit team for the preparation of related reports.

Tahiti Nui Travel & Development, Tahiti 1986-1987

Bazaars Shopping Center at Garankuwa and 270,000 SF, Sunninghill Shopping Center for private developers, The first cash-and-carry wholesale supermarket for Makro (Pty) Ltd in 160,000 SF facility

This consulting practice was mainly focused on roadway design and were engaged by the Department of Public works mainly to design and supervise large road projects.

A reinforced concrete design division was established and I was appointed Junior Partner to handle all Bridge design for road over road, road over rail and rail over road bridges. Responsible for all aspects of design of the firm's new office building.

Performed reinforced concrete design on projects such as the new Durban Magistrates Court with deep open cast pile foundations, New Sugar Silo with precast concrete formed panels and post tensioned cables, Several post tensioned bridges including the new Umgeni River bridge with massive beams and poured in place abutments. Designed my first high rise apartment structure and supervised the construction of the new Sanlam three multi storey condominium project in Pretoria.

Started using computers rather than slide rules for concrete design which were massive IBM computers before the days of current technology and which were very complex to program and utilize.
