Owner/CEO/Sr. Consultant Green Technology Consulting LLC 2009 – present developing technology adaptation for mattress foam conversion to biochar, activated carbon and derivatives. Working with start-ups, recent acquisitions, growth, and mature/re-energizing companies, Jon utilizes his critical thinking, communications, creativity, adaptability, teamwork, and savvy social skills in concert with his broad executive experience to achieve rapid sales growth, increase profit, reduce cost, define and implement successful strategic initiatives, and achieve stretch goals in record time. He assisted in four (4) initiatives to build activated carbon factories in the USA, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, and Nigeria. He evaluated introducing 3D printing for a leading USA manufacturer in 2015. In 2016 he selected 3 optimal sites for a new $20+ million manufacturing factory. Returned from his 7th trip to evaluate China AC manufacturing in August 2018. Advised AC factory construction in India.

Millennium HI Carbon June 2020 – 2023 Constructed a 1st-of-its-kind pilot manufacturing facility that converts distillery stillage to biochar, horticultural/wood vinegar, and activated carbon. Coordinating engineering for 2024 construction of full-scale manufacturing factory. Produced pure biomass from liquid sugar starting material producing spherical granule pure carbon for graphite production. April 2017 – 2020 Managed the re-start of a 1st-of-its-kind macadamia nut shells to Ucap activated carbon (AC) manufacturing factory in Hawaii. The original ownership failed after spending $50 million and 2 years. Jon succeeded in less than 12 months manufacturing Ucap and creating several other on-going parallel revenues generating manufacturing processes. Conducts annual activated carbon manufacturing & factory site-selection training while simultaneously advising companies constructing activated carbon factories globally (active projects in USA & Europe).

Koppers Inc., V.P. Strategic Planning & Business Development Pittsburgh, PA present developing technology adaptation for mattress foam conversion to biochar, activated carbon and derivatives. 2008-2009 arriving on his assignment in mid-October 2008 as the global economy began “near-free-fall,” Jon used his critical thinking to adapt the strategy and led the immediate strategy correction implementation. He communicated and coached division VP’s emphasizing teamwork to improve major customer relationships adapting strategy to achieve cross-division alignment while enhancing customers’ relationship value. His social executive teamwork skills accomplished accelerated adapted strategy acceptance. He was the corporate team “point-man” for business development and M&A. He added Cultural Due Diligence to the due-diligence process, added 165 companies to the globalized opportunities list of one division, and added more than twenty “new” technologies to the other division’s potential acquisition list. He evaluated and proposed entry strategy for Vietnam. Jon researched, evaluated, and proposed global growth and business development actions to add more than $1 billion in new opportunities for one division - triple its revenue.

CEO, Fletcher Granite Company LLC, Westford, MA 2004-2008

Dynamic, private, 125-year-old company operating eleven quarries throughout New England and Georgia. The company produces and sells curbing, dimensional stone, landscape products and ships granite blocks internationally. Jon used creativity to introduce sales to China resulting in $0.5 million sales in 6 months and $1 million sales in year 1. He adapted direct sales to launce UK pre-Olympics 2012 sales and created new sales of $1 million in 3 months personally organizing 70 visits to London architects in an initial two-week sales blitz. He adapted and improved profitability 100% in 2 years, doubled dimension stone sales in 3 years and creatively implemented first-of-its-kind in-quarry multi-wire sawing technology more than doubling productivity and reducing production cost more than 50%. He introduced more than twenty new consumer products to the landscape product line increasing sales 60% and profitability 50%. Jon created and introduced professional credit Seminars for Architects (Lunch & Learn) that taught easier specification techniques for granite and personally communicated to them “educating” more than 600 architects in 20 cities in the USA and UK. Jon personally organized and introduced Executive Sales to Architects (specifically owners and partners) creating doubled dimension stone sales while assuring that Fletcher Granite was the preferred, specified supplier. He created a quarterly “Communique” sent to all customers, architects, stone setters, and other granite decision makers providing the latest news and details of new products, current projects, and coming opportunities for Fletcher products & services. He regularly organized his personal sales calls to architects in NYC (monthly), Boston (weekly), Philadelphia (quarterly), Washington, DC (quarterly), and Pittsburgh (quarterly). A sampling of Major Projects includes: Battery Street Parks (NYC), Franklin Roosevelt memorial (NYC), Central Artery North End Park (Boston), Point State Park (Pittsburgh), Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia), and Lincoln Memorial (Washington, DC). Jon organized, led, and managed the specifying, quoting, sales, drafting, production, delivery, customer field service, and installation of dimensional granite. This included tile, paving, structural, and ornamental granite components. He created and improved supplier relationships using his keen social skills with twenty-five granite suppliers in the USA, Canada, Italy, China, and Brazil creating multi-company teamwork to supplement production requirements for large project needs. Jon organized and led all hiring, training, and development of all employees including personally interviewing every person hired. He personally led all quality programs and achieved the best reputation for quality in the granite industry.

President, York Casket/Matthews International Corporation, Pittsburgh, PA 2002-2004

$125 million Division President created $10 million additional shareholder value in less than the first two years of this acquisition. He creatively reduced acquisition debt by $80 million in less than two years, increased profit by 4% of sales in eighteen months, and relocated the headquarters from Houston to Pittsburgh successfully in a 9-month transition reducing administrative expense more than $2 million annually. Jon implemented a successful SAP upgrade under budget with only internal personnel saving $1 million. He evaluated and recommended SAP implementation for the parent company resulting in more than $2 million annual savings (Matthews did adopt SAP company-wide). He devised and helped create, adapt, and implement the emergency corporate IS back-up system and enhanced IS security. He creatively introduced ten new successful products resulting in $50 million annual new sale opportunities. He successfully adapted the existing workplace and implemented teamwork cells at Pittsburgh headquarters reducing workforce from more than 80 to 35 (carefully leading the hiring process for the 35 dynamic Pittsburgh people) with increased customer service and customer satisfaction.

Senior Consultant, Preferred Business Solutions LLC, Pittsburgh, PA 2001-2002 Business consulting firm assisting manufacturing, distribution and service companies in the areas of profit enhancement, revenue growth, cost reductions, corporate finance and restructuring objectives. Jon was interim CEO of a crane-rental company and led its successful Chapter 11 reorganization and a Board of Directors member for an exotic materials start-up company with 50% yearly growth. He implemented SDWT’s for a NJ manufacturer.
