Summary of Experience

Since 1984, Mr. Kinder has been on the cutting edge of the regulatory, market, and political factors that have and are continually impacting the environmental industry. From UST’s, PCBs, Clean Water Act and Land Disposal Restrictions and other key issues of the 80’s and 90’s, to the problems of today, including ES&G, renewable energy solutions and emerging contaminants, Mr. Kinder has developed the skills, strategies and solutions to address this ever-changing market. Over his career, Mr. Kinder has developed specific skill sets, including the following:

Client Development/sales in private and public sector, including successfully developing strategies for markets/clients, then executing the strategies to achieve profitable projects and contracts.

Program Management on multi-discipline, multi-location, multi-million-dollar contracts for private and public sector clients including VDOT, MWAA, USACE, and the EPA.

Project Management on a wide variety of environmental projects, but always with the goal of Identifying and meeting/exceeding a client’s expectations regarding achieving key milestones, controlling cost, managing scope, and staying on schedule.

Proposal Management, including developing cost estimates for complex projects/contracts as well as developing winning strategies and writing winning proposals.

In addition to the above, Mr. Kinder has developed exceptional management and leadership skills as well as developing industry leading technical expertise in the following areas:

Site Remediation Design and Implementation, both for impacted soil and groundwater, including on-site soil stabilization/treatment for metals/organic contaminants, and designing/installing groundwater treatment systems, including in situ biological, physical, and chemical treatment techniques for a wide range of contaminants.

Exceptional writing and communication skills, including preparation of site plans, and proposals.

Hazardous waste identification, characterization, storage, transport, and disposal of all types of hazardous and nonhazardous waste streams.

Software commonly utilized for project and proposal management, including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint along with Adobe, Primavera, and other software products.

December 2015 to March 2023

Mr. Kinder was hired by TRC to open a Virginia office and grow an area of North America that was not serviced by TRC. Over his 7 years at TRC, Mr. Kinder generated profitable sales revenues, mostly to the private sector (utilities, Class I railroads, law firms, industrial clients), and some public sector (DoD via partnering with Small and Disadvantaged Businesses), as well as establishing TRC as a market force in renewable project development in the Mid-Atlantic. Mr. Kinder also managed projects in the Mid-Atlantic including projects involving remediation, stormwater compliance, transaction support, renewable/ES&G program support, and other key services.

Marshall Miller & Associates (MM&A)/Cardno, Special Remediation Project Manager, Regional Business Development Manager

January 2003 to December 2015

Mr. Kinder took MM&A, a small business focused on services to the coal industry with a key environmental contract (VDOT) and supporting their diversification into industrial and other public sector markets. As Special Remediation Project Manager, Mr. Kinder was given projects requiring complex remediation solutions and was responsible for executing the solution safely, effectively, and to the client’s satisfaction. In June 2012, MM&A was acquired by Cardno, and Mr. Kinder was assigned as Regional Business Development Manager. Mr. Kinder’s Region was the Southeast US. Mr. Kinder brought Cardno successfully into the Class I Railroad marketplace and supported 15 offices in the Southeast (over 700 employees) with developing and implementing their local growth and business development strategies.

Mr. Kinder earned his senior status, starting his career as a dish washer in a Clean Water Act compliance company’s lab, working as a Project Chemist and Response Manager on large USACE and EPA/Superfund projects, as a manager of a team of chemists and technicians to sample, characterize and dispose of waste, and as PM, chemist, and Health and Safety Manager responding to over 100 chemical releases and spills, including over 20 train derailments.
