HOSPITAL DESCRIPTION:
Farwaniya Hospital is one of the government hospital in Kuwait, working to be
accredited by John Hopkins, a tertiary hospital with a total bed capacity of 950
catering different patients. Both urgent and non-urgent cases.
DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:
Admit patient from Labor Room, Operation Theater, post-natal
wards, Pediatric Casualty, Breastfeeding OPD or other hospitals.
Obtain the following from accompanied staff nurse: baby’s name-
check the baby’s ID bracelet with mother’s three fullnames, patient’s
gender, date and time of birth.
Perform extensive physical assessment and newborn screening exams.
Administer oxygen therapy as needed and assist in intubation. All
emergency equipments and drugs in the bedside, do suction as needed.
Set Oxygen High flow according to doctor’s order.
Check vital signs, attach to cardiac monitor, check anthropometric
measurement, patency of anus and nosetrils. Assist during radiologic
examination such as: chest/abdominal x-ray with OGT intact.
Insert IV Cannula aseptically, assist in PICC, UAC, UVC insertion
aseptically. Collect routine blood investigations.
Start IVFluid as per doctor’s order and carry out other doctor’s
order for any medication or additional care.
Vaccinate the baby according to vaccination policy.
Document nurse’s notes and enter patient’s data in Admission
Registry Book and Census Paper.
Inform parents about hospital visiting policy.
