Production Manager, FullStack Modular - Commercial Steel Modular

Hired as the Production Manager. Responsible for (2) locations in different States. New York and Oregon. Built and Project Managed the 1st High-Rise (65 Stories) prototype module for the West Coast division in Oregon. After completion of this module, I will be transitioning to setting up the production facility. I have designed the Production facility, all stations, sub-assembly work centers, module & materials flows, labor charts, equipment, and tooling layouts along with budgets to complete the factory set-up.

Project Manager, Deluxe Modular - Commercial Steel Modular

Hired to Project Manage all projects through the production process, Site Installation process and turnover to the customer. In addition, assisted in any area(s) needed. Helped in product development, design, and fabrication of prototype assemblies. Aided in a new factory design for automation, sub-assembly stations and materials flow. Also helped on project plan approvals with heat-loss, and electrical load calculations. Aided in training BIM modelers in the plumbing, HVAC disciplines and module cross-over connections. Company closed, filed bankruptcy.

Production Manager, Key Structures, Modular Homes – Temporary assignment

Struggling Modular Company. In the 1st 30 days, re-tooled the factory and added 4 mud/tape workstations. With 16 workstations, during my first 150 days, we were able to triple production. In addition to increasing production, we finished 60-yard modules not completed before my hiring. Before the end of my 6-month period, we hit 13 modules in one week, which was triple the prior amount. I trained 3 new supervisors, 1 Cad/Production Designer, 2 Quality Assurance Inspectors. Developers stated the product was the best they have seen out of the factory. In addition to the above I was able to hire, train and teach a great production team while setting up procedures and processes throughout the organization.

Operations Manager, Slate Modular, Ohio – Temporary assignment October 2019 to March 2020

Designed Factory Layout of a 15 station Modular Residential Factory. Provided the owner with a Phase 1&2 Plant Set-up budgets for all equipment, tools, jigs, tables. Managed the A&E Design team for the first several projects. Trained each production department while building the first 3 projects out of the factory, three 2 story houses with 4 modules per home. Hired and trained a project manager, production manager, 2 supervisors, 1 Quality assurance inspector.

Owner Successful AIRBNB Business in Alaska – February 2018 to Present

Manufactured Log Cabin units as Modular Kits for Rentals. Cabins are and designed to be off-grid Solar Powered with bathroom, kitchen and sleeping. Rentals are typically at 86% capacity.

The below 3 jobs combined due to Multiple Positions at the same company:

1.Operations Manager, Builders Choice, Inc.- Anchorage, AK, and Vermillion, SD. 2009- Dec. 2017. Modular Building Manufacturing facility. Developed accurate cost estimating program in Excel. Set up new procedures for balancing labor and production output numbers. Set up budgets for purchasing, ran daily operations. Helped in sales, sales meetings, project management, initial project designs. Ran Operations in both multi-State facilities. Traveled to S.D. Production facility monthly, while based in Anchorage corporate. I helped in guiding the company to one of the top 33 companies in Alaska by revenue. Maximum 200 employees. Maximum production was $1.67 million weekly.

2.Project Manager - Builders Choice, Inc.-Anchorage, Alaska, 2005-2008. Setup the Project Management Department. Created Excel tracking program for multiple projects at once being manufactured and site installed simultaneously. Projects ranged in size from $125,000 to $20,000,000. Managed our teams, subcontractors, scheduling, budgeting, and balancing.

3.Design Plant, Set-up, Production Manager, - Builders Choice, Inc.-Anchorage, Alaska, 2001-2005. Designed a new modular production facility in 33 layers of AutoCAD and developed a working production facility model. Hired to set-up the factory, stage inventory and material flows, hire personnel and train. Produced first 60 residential projects successfully. Eventually converted the factory to produce projects of Commercial 90%, Residential 10%.

Additional Experience: 25 years part-time – Working part-time over the years I developed dozens of plant layouts for the USA and overseas. I did plant layout design for Bill Bobbitt (Modular Consultant) and Rich Bowen (Modular Steel Fabricator/Consultant) and currently Jason Carter (The Mod Coach). In addition to factory layouts, I have designed numerous crane systems, materials handling equipment, bridge scaffolding, line moving equipment, etc.
