Senior Director Inpatient Medicine Services, July 2022-Present

Overseeing five (5) medicine units, including two (2) step-down (PCU), two (2) medicine surgical, and a Medicine Intensive Care Unit. Total beds combined of one hundred and forty-seven (147). Also overseeing the Wound Care department, Acute Dialysis Unit, and Sepsis Coordinator. During this past year, have focused on cultural change to a highly reliable organization with a focus on patient safety indicators (PSI), employee retention, and advancements in the quality of care being provided by the nursing team. I am the Executive Director for four (4) PSI task groups: CLABSI, CAUTI, Pressure Injury Prevention, and Sepsis. These four (4) task groups have changed the culture and accountability with a focus on process, education, and ownership to reduce and eliminate patient harm events. Engagement, empowerment, retention, and improved morale have also been a focus for the workforce. To achieve this, have been generating “grass root” change and innovation, to onboard talent, removing barriers of traditional and historical culture, practice to enhance the knowledge level and quality of the entire nursing team for better patient outcomes, improve patient experience, and decrease healthcare disparity for the patient population that OU Health serves.

Returned to Parkland as the Service Manager with full ownership of all operations for the hospital's Level 1 Trauma/Burn Center, recognized nationwide as the busiest urban/county ER. Promoted to Director of Nursing-Hospitalist Medicine February 2020, overseeing three inpatient Hospitalist units, Acute Dialysis and Inpatient Rehabilitation. Collaborated with the Hospitalist Medicine team in forming a process improvement committee to improve engagement and empowerment of the nursing staff, increase knowledge and skill competency, and finally develop lasting relationships to enhance the overall safety and quality of care provided to the community. December 1st, 2020, assumed the leadership role over two separate Covid-19 inpatient units. The promotion acknowledges achievements in the continued upward career arc with the hospital.
