* I started working with children right after I graduated High School in 1982. My first five years I worked at Montessori Preschool and Day Care. I served as the assistant director and was the kindergarten teacher for two years. In 1987 I started my own licensed home day care. I continued until 2002 when I started to work at Westminster Public Schools as a Title I Paraprofessional. I have been working in this position for 14 years. I work with small groups on reading writing and math. I also ran a home reading program that serves 323 children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. I was recently asked to be a presenter at a staff training, to share my knowledge of teaching phonemic awareness to elementary students. I have been a Preschool Paraprofessional for the past 3 years and have run Large Groups and taken on all of the responsibilities of the lead teacher for a two-week period my first year and various times since when the lead teacher was absent at Hodgkin’s Elementary. I also served as a lead teacher at a part time position at Little Loves ELC for two years. The last two years I have performed all the responsibilities as an Instructional Services Coordinator for Skyline Vista Pre-k-8 and Early Childhood Center at Gregory Hill. Last year 22-23 I was and ISC at Fairview Pre-K-8 13 students graduated in May and started kindergarten this Fall.

*Lead Teacher-With the help of my coworker, assistant we have had two 3 and 4 your old classes this year each class for 3 hours four days a week. I planned and posted weekly lesson plans as well as structured activities. Each class had between 13 and 16 students. I had 7 students with IEP’s. I implemented the specialists’ recommendations for each child. I have completed the Teaching Strategies Gold check points three times this year. I have been participating in the Dinosaur School Lead Teachers instruction all year. We have 17 students graduating in two weeks.

*Lead Teacher-I took the place of the lead teacher while she was on medical leave. I planned and delivered lesson plans as well as a structure daily schedule for a class of 14 four-year-olds. My goal at all times was to help these four-year-old students to get ready for their kindergarten year. I monitored each student throughout the time to drive the lessons. I completed the Teaching Strategies Gold check point twice the last one during the time I spent at my next assignment. When we were sent home to teach remote for a month and a half. I continued to teach and hold Large Group Meetings over Zoom twice a day. While preparing and checking the students Empower progress. *Instructional Assistant preschool- My duties in this position are to support the head teacher in gathering data to assess the student’s development levels through the Gold Strategies program. After we gather the data, we use it to drive instruction to advance the students to the level they will need to be in kindergarten. I support and help teach IY and dinosaur school. I have made many activities to help support the principles we are teaching. I set up and maintain the classroom daily. My experience with Title I has been a very good insight into what the preschool students need to learn to be ready for kindergarten.

*Instructional Assistant Title I- My duties in this position are to run five 40-minute small groups a day using the Leveled Literacy Intervention program paired with the F.A.S.T. Reading System. I taught everything from phonemic awareness to phonological awareness in order to improve the students reading and writing skills. I taught math skills to students that need to practice their skills. I ran a home reading program for kindergarten-2nd graders. They are responsible for reading two books a night and logging what they read and answer a retell question such as setting characters, genre etc. I kept track of how many books 323 students read. I reached out to community businesses to get coupons for prizes. I worked with McDonalds, Skate City, Chipotle and Elvis Cinemas. The goal was to read 200 books and the reward was a McDonald’s Happy Meal picnic lunch. I did all of this in 5 hours a day five days a week.
