VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
1. Kerscher Lab Research at William and Mary –
General Member (August 2023 – Present) – I work
with Dr. Kerscher at William and Mary. Working on studying yeast genetics. Learning how to conduct 2-hybrid screens to study protein-protein interactions. I am learning how to write protocols and take part in lab-research meetings
(weekly).

2. Genetic Analysis Lab Research (January 2023 – May 2023) – worked with Siz1, yeast and performed a 2- hybrid screen to discover protein-protein interactions. Found an interaction between Siz1 and UFD1 gene and YCK1 gene.
3. HOSA – Future Health Professionals Club (August 2022) – We talk about the careers present in the health field. We have guest speakers that come in from different health backgrounds to talk about 4. Albemarle Historical Society Intern (Genealogy) – Research Assistant --- I worked on creating a database where the Historical Society would continue to add their novice research related to unmarked graves of enslaved laborers.
5. Teacher Assistant at Charlottesville Mosque (2021-2022) --- I used to host Zoom meetings with young kids ages 8-9. We would discuss religion and what being Muslim means to them. We worked on activities, workbook pages, and recitations.
6. The University of Virginia Sustainability Ambassador (2021-2022) --- I worked with my peers to help initiate UVA’s 2030 Sustainability plans. We worked in teams to create power-points that provided helpful resources to make people practice sustainability. We presented these presentations to all the student organizations present at UVA.
7. University of Virginia Student Association Council for Dorms (2021-2022) -- My job as a representative of the student council for my dorm was to promote sustainable practices in our dorm building by placing posters up and by sending out presentations on how to be environmentally friendly. I was able to host community events, like game-night, movie-nights for residents of dorms to get to know each other and build a home.
8. University of Virginia Financial Accessibility Student Council (General Assembly Member) (2020- 2021) --- I was tasked to work in groups to provide low-income students with information regarding college costs. We created workshop outlines, and presentations that helped students decrease their costs. We helped students figure out Medicaid applications, and answer questions regarding SNAP and other forms of assistance. 9. STEM Camp Counselor (2019) --- I worked with K-5 kids to help them gain an interest in STEM fields. We helped them build objects, look around nature, and ask many questions about the mysteries that they can’t solve on their own.
10. Sentara Northern Virginia Hospital (2018-2019) --- I helped work at the front desk of the hospital. I worked with patients’ families and directed them to the proper room numbers. We had patient interactions where we would take out the care cart and walk around the rooms. The purpose of the care cart was to interact with patients and make them feel better.
11. Student Council Member at Woodbridge Senior High School (2018-2019) -- As a student council member, I was part of different committees that worked to create school events. I worked on homecoming events, movie nights for the school, and dances. The main purpose of the council was to create a sense of school pride and community. I was very lucky to also be able to organize a drive to raise money for schools.
