Created data merge and database constraint management code for a new SSDT tool being constructed to assist with the Epic insurance data conversion and upload part of the overall onboarding process for new EHR insurance provider clients. SSDT project adds test data to a large test database that includes over 200 individual tables and no pre-existing documentation.

Developed automated TSQL code generation templates for the creation of merge code for the SSDT tool described above.

Production support. SSIS ETL debug and development with Visual Studio and a client specific custom conversion tool. Over 200 .dtsx packages in production client conversion environment. All of them are required to run a single client conversion. Mainly TSQL and C# development.

Wrote TSQL code to enable data transfer, time zone conversion, data transfer logging, and the web API code for the web-based data transfer control system for the SSIS based data transfer system that moves pharmacy prescription data between every Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (VA CMOP) being run by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs in the United States.

Created C# code in SSIS to communicate with the TSQL based logging system by executing the required TSQL stored procedures with the correct parameters at the right time during the data transfer process between individual CMOPs and the national prescription database.

Worked with DevOps team software testers to develop testing plans, code samples, and illustrated documentation for all code produced.

United Way of Connecticut, Rocky Hill, CT December 2014 – July 2015

Created multiple SQL Server 2008 R2 databases that collectively serve as the backend for a significant part of the United Way’s business intelligence services, including their 211 call center data.

Used SQL Server BI tools to build ETL packages in SSIS for the automated, routine import of data from multiple different types of sources. This included TSQL, VB.NET, and VBA programming, as well as the modification of some existing C# code.

Established and maintained up to date software documentation detailing the different configurations of the newly developed .dtsx packages including basic installation, maintenance, import reversal and troubleshooting procedures.

SSRS and Excel based data reporting; both year end and ad hoc reporting to fill specific requests.

Performed various small scale debug and repair tasks involving existing Access applications.

Graystone Group Advertising, Bridgeport, CT March 2013 – July 2014

SQL Developer DBA / SSIS Developer / Access VBA Developer

Responsible for on-call DBA duties and further development of the end client’s line of business, custom built Access/SQL Server application.

Added functionality to a pre-existing, undocumented Access/SQL Server hybrid database containing over 11.6 million records, including Excel based data import/export for the forms, user-specific sound based alarms when new jobs queue, and other control modifications according to user preference.

Stood up a second instance of the database on a new server as a performance improvement measure to separate the reporting activity load from the data entry load. Also created a custom SSIS data merge solution to keep the 2 servers’ data synchronized with an automated overnight transfer process.

Additional performance tuning and refactoring of the SQL database code was required. SQL Server Profiler and Solarwinds DPA solutions were set up and used for monitoring as part of this process.

Adelbrook, Cromwell, CT Mar 2008 – June 2013

Data Analyst / Access and Excel VBA Developer

Developed an integrated, multi-department data model and ultimately a database software system using Microsoft Access and Excel in conjunction with VBA and SQL code for the company that supported decision making processes, satisfied its meaningful use EMR requirements under ARRA, and saved it over $150,000 annually in back office labor costs. This system became a model for other non profit human services organizations in Connecticut as an affordable means of meeting ARRA requirements and also fulfilling COA accreditation requirements where applicable.

Extracted and cleansed 14 years’ worth of legacy data from over one hundred separate Excel files (many different formats), then mapped the data to a single custom destination format usable by database software mentioned above prior to loading it into the new system.

Produced a quality assurance and performance improvement metrics program with VBA automated Excel dashboard support for each department within the organization at large in order to enable the company to meet its operational demands for quality control and to fulfill COA accreditation requirements.

Gathered business requirements and generated documentation for all software produced.
