Developed and troubleshooted outgoing interfaces of the GSD application, including interfaces to SAP, South America QAD, Qlik Sense, Romania Plant Floor Systems, and Excel Spreadsheets.

Collaborated with the DBA team on data structures, performance monitoring, and query tuning for a Production Environment.

Participated in 24/7 Production Support for the critical GSD Application.

EXPERIENCE

Delphi/Aptiv

Information Specialist

September 2018 – December 2023

Work with the global user community to define, test and implement the Global Quoting System for GSD.

The application uses the IBM Business Process Management software as the front-end user interface along with the GSD Oracle database to drive all new quotes for the company. The system reports the differences in material and labor between versions of the harness and reports out the profitability and profit margins based upon the cost and price data of the labor and components. The system will identify the quotes that do not meet the factory margin expectations so the users can go back and negotiate the component cost/price and labor rates. The quote data is fed into the Commercial Forecasting database which uses the Qlik Sense tool to provide reports for upper management about the overall profitability of the car lines. The new process lets the customers quote new products in days as opposed to the old process which took weeks to get approved.

Work with the GSD Labor Team to define, test and implement changes to the manufacturing Labor Process. The process will look at the component and bill of material for the automobile harness, define the manufacturing steps needed and automatically calculate the labor time to manufacture it. The process will also detail how the plants should be set up to use the tools and floor space efficiently. The process has been instrumental in improving the accuracy of the quotes and the integrity of the labor data. The new process replaces the manual process that was previously performed using Excel spreadsheets.

Created a new BPM Process Flow to calculate the transfer price when moving components across different Aptiv Plants within the company. The process pulls data from a Teradata database in England, SQL Server databases in Europe, SAP, and Sales Force database to calculate the recommended transfer cost/price of the components when billing each profit center.

DXC Technology

Information Specialist

April 2017 – August 2018

Work as part of a team to define a new process to track the raw materials used to manufacture the components of the automobile. The new process will look at all the wiring harness used within a product line (For Example, Chevrolet Silverado) and look at all the commodities including gold, silver, tin along with plastic resins that are used. It accumulates and summarizes them together for each product line and automobile manufacturer so the company can go to the suppliers and negotiate better rates based upon commodity projections. The project has saved the company thousands of dollars in costs as they can negotiate better rates.

Delphi/Aptiv uses SAP to purchase new components and manage inventory levels. Our team wrote an interface to SAP to send all component and bill of material information used in the harness to the interface, so SAP has the correct, up-to-date component information.

Created a new system using data from a SQL Server in Europe along with data from Mexico in an Excel format to determine the risk assessment of using certain components together in the automobile. The system is critical to identify areas of concern so additional testing and signoff can be completed. The information is used along with other GSD data to avoid costly warranty recalls from dealerships.

HP/ HPE

Application Developer

November 2008 – March 2017

As part of a team, I developed and supported the Global Shared Data (GSD) Application. The application is a warehouse of the component and bill of material information used globally by the company. The application uses Oracle Forms as the font-end web-based application along with an Oracle Database on a LINUX operating system. The application has over six hundred front-end forms and three hundred package/procedures used to maintain the data. The application can import data from numerous sources including Excel and HTML files from customers. The application can also accept CAD drawings from other applications. The application ensures the data integrity of the component information and runs multiple validations to make sure the components are used correctly in the automobile. The application has over a thousand tables in the data model and is the central repository of all company data. The GSD Application has multiple interfaces to automatically send the data to other QAD systems in South America, SAP and to the plant floor systems in Europe. The data is used to produce the manufacturing instructions for the different plants and various Excel files that are used as input into other systems. The application is deemed a critical application by the company, and we supply 24/7 maintenance coverage.

The GSD application also drives the manufacturing application (GSD-M). The GSD-M application uses the component and bill of material information from GSD and builds the manufacturing steps, order and tools needed in each plant. The application calculates the labor of each step and how the different stations in the plants should be put together to build the wiring harnesses correctly. The application also evaluates and recommends the tooling requirements for each plant, run-time schedules and can produce drawings of how the plants should be set up.
