Assists with maintaining occupational health records for all Department Of Defense employees and Active Duty personnel that are on specific medical surveillance programs. Obtains vital signs on all clients preparatory to a complete medical examination by the RN, OHN, PA or NP. Ensures completion of and signature on reports of medical and occupational history by the client. May conduct a baseline health screening for new hires when required by the OHN. Identifies personnel with health history of chronic disease and makes appropriate notation in medical record when required by OHN.

Refers all personnel working in eye hazardous areas, who require safety glasses and/or a complete eye examination, to Safety. May receive copy of prescriptions for safety glasses and will ensure they are filed in clients' medical records.

Performed audiometric testing for both certification and surveillance evaluations utilizing computer-linked, automated audiometric equipment. Records findings appropriately. Completes reference audiogram on employees assigned to noise hazardous positions and being entered into the Hearing Conservation Program (HCP). Prepares referral to the occupational medicine specialist or audiologist when need is determined and schedules appointment. With the assistance of the OHN, determines type of hearing protection required, i.e., earplugs or ear muffs. Fits all military and civilian personnel assigned to noise hazardous areas with earplugs as required. Have performed follow-up audiometric testing on all employees assigned to noise hazardous positions. Conducts a daily system biological calibration check of audiometer and ensures results of system check are within acceptable ranges.

Knowledge of procedures and techniques of several occupational health medical areas, to include audiology, pulmonary function, EKG, vision screening and the administration of vaccines.

Performs administrative functions as required, such as scheduling, closing out daily patient records, sending out physician written opinions under the direction of the nurse or medical officer, and maintenance of medical records as needed. Assists with maintaining daily log of all screenings performed and for what purpose. Assists with preparation of reports as required by the RN, OHN, or providers of the total number of employees screened and referred as part of the Occupational Vision Program, HCP or respiratory protection fitness program (PFTs). Prepares other required monthly reports based on information in the logs. May assist with determining clinic needs and with ordering supplies.

Knowledge and or skills in the use of specialized equipment for audiometric testing, vision screening, spirometry testing, recording and determining when a patient needs to see the doctor.

Skill and knowledge required to collect, organize and communicate concisely written data relevant to health assessments in the form of Medical/work related histories, results of lab work and data.

Compile and prepare a wide variety of continuing or one-time special statistical and narrative reports from records maintained.
