Principal Grant Accountant

· Responsible for maintenance and development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures regarding categorical and competitive grants. Policies include compliance with Federal OMB 133, State compliance and local and private contribution requirement.

· Oversees BANNER General Ledger system, as it pertains to grant/contract accounting, which includes the Grants and Contracts module.

· Documents all system logic and procedures.

· Manages the Restricted General fund, Child Development fund, and Internally Designated

· Fund, day to day accounting operations from budgeting to reporting and compliance.

· Establishes guidelines regarding administration of grants, including budgeting, appropriating, reporting and billing.

Operating check run and ACH payment.

Deposit all sources of payment in Company; record and post to various funds.

· Develops reporting requirements and standards for internal and external reporting including progress reports to Project Directors and Senior Management. External reporting includes reports to Grantor and Audit Schedules in compliance with Federal OMB 133 and 110.

Financial Manager/Controller

• Supervising a team of staff at the Department of Radiation Oncology & acting on behalf of the Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology in her absence. Part Human Resources Coordinator from Hiring, Selection, Team Development & Management to continuous training and support.

• Core tasks included maintaining journal databases for the department while preparing as well as approving daily financial transactions. Fostering exceptional time management and organizational skills so the department continuously retained its expanded authorities for letter-of-credit, no-cost extensions, and re-budgeting capabilities. Overseeing budgets for each fund and demonstrating sound judgment to accurately meet the 90-day submission deadlines. Reviewing and verifying all personnel transactions to ensure proper funds are available to support faculty and staff in the department at large.

• Utilizing financial guidelines & regulations knowledge to assist the department in time sensitive cost transfers of debit federal & federal flow through. Analyzing financial data generated from WebLinks systems to construct templates for efficiency as well as budget reports for each source of funding while supporting and communicating with faculty of an array of personalities professionally.

Acting as a resource for the research & funding team of the Department of Anesthesia in the School of Medicine to ensure university policies, government regulations, and sponsor agency restrictions and regulations are being followed on sponsored project funds. Wearing multiple hats as the direct supervisor of staff – serving as human resource support including training and management of the team while providing professional budget development consultation and administrative support for grant proposals & renewals.

• Providing comprehensive and consistent care for grants, contract, and all funds receive including the preparation of annual and quarterly financial reports that adhere to constantly changing policies. Generating monthly reports and direct assistance to faculty while corresponding with the Chairman of the Department and Directors in the School of Medicine regularly to follow up on financial requests and reports.

• Leading the department in preparing, processing as well as approving a vast range of accounting forms to correspond to financial transactions (travel vouchers, check requests, meeting expenses, financial journals, cost transfers, budget journals), and maintaining a database as a part of a campus PeopleSoft pilot program.

• Reviewing payroll transactions and running projected reports for Principal Investigators in the School of Pharmacy.
