Appeals Officer 05/2005 - Present

As an Appeals Officer duties include reviewing appellant actions and case records; discusses case with worker of record or Managers; separates points of fact from points of law; research applicable Federal, State & County eligibility Regulations, recommends on whether to find in claimant’s favor or to go to hearing, negotiates Conditional Withdrawal if appropriate. Research cases, interview appellant, appellant’s representative, responsible worker, witnesses, prepare case for presentation at hearing. Present County’s written Position Statement orally before a Hearing Officer, and or Administrative Law Judge.

Welfare Investigator Technician (IEVS Worker/ ET III) 04/2000 – 05/2005

My duties include assisting Welfare Investigator & District Attorney, by analyzing evidence, implementing court decisions, gathering evidence, reviewing asset match. I process unlimited applications for ongoing cases on low-income families for CALWORKS, Food Stamps, General Assistance, and Medical. I review fair hearing decisions, dispositions, and court actions. Eligibility Technician II 06/1990 to 08/1991

My duties included processing applications from low-income customers to determine their eligibility for General Assistance grants and Food Stamps allotments. I was responsible for an on-going caseload, and most times, I assisted other co-workers with their cases being that I was always able to keep ahead of my work. I was deployed for one year to Iraq and recently worked as an Expeditionary Force Detainee Operations at Camp Bucca Iraq. My duties are familiar with detainee camps standard operational procedures; unarmed self-defense; Detainee Information Management System (DIMS); Islamic cultural awareness; forced cell extractions (FCE); escort operations and restrain application. Provide human care and custody of enemy combatants, collect intelligence for Law enforcement and war crimes investigations and execute detainee operations missions in support of Joint Task Force, Iraq. Also performs specialized duties in internal security operations at installations and facilities as a member of the Navy Internal Security Force, provide security for restricted areas, controls entry and exit of military and civilian personnel vehicles and other equipment at access points to restricted areas. Patrols property concentration areas on foot and using vehicle. Enforces general and special orders and regulations applicable to the area operations. Other duties as assigned by the Officer in charge.

As a Department Manager I was responsible for interviewing applicants for different duties such as: sales, cashiers, truck drivers and delivery person. In addition, I oversaw Quality Control, Sales, Profit, Inventory, Verification of Orders, and Testing Applicants for Customer Service as well as keep all employees informed of all regulations and procedures of the company. Process yearly evaluations. I used to supervise about 25 people daily.
