Arkansas Nuclear One Generating Plant (10-14 thru 11-14)

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - Coordinated Requests-For-Information [RFI(s)] and their associated change documentation submitted by construction personnel during the installation of Fukushima type modifications for the units’. Specifically, these modifications involved core drillings and subsequent pipe / conduit / sleeve installations to facilitate utilization of temporarily stored equipment during an event such as experienced at the Fukushima Plant in Japan.

Watts Bar Nuclear Plant (8-00 thru 9-00), (9-03 thru 10-03), (4-04 thru 9-04), (4-09 thru 5-10), and (9-10 thru 9-13)

FIELD and DESIGN ENGINEER - Cognizant Engineer for coordination of I&C Response Time Testing Surveillance Instruction performances, Inservice Inspection/Inservice Test (ISI/IST) programs, and piping and other mechanical modifications during the unit’s refueling outages. Design Engineer for the preparation, review and implementation of Certified Design Specifications and Code reconciliation, material expediter, Work Order Closure Coordinator, and Problem Evaluation Report (PER) Closure Coordinator, in support of the Watts Bar Unit 2 Construction Completion Project.. Time and material take-offs for successful implementation of numerous projects encountered while exercising other mechanical engineering duties.

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (3-08 thru 10-08)

SENIOR CONSULTANT - Program Engineer for the Service Water Reliability Program and assisted with the Heat Exchanger Condition Monitoring Program as well as procedure preparation and revision.

Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant (2-07 thru 4-07)

DESIGN ENGINEER - Responsible Engineer for the on site Design Engineering Group during the implementation of two (2) modifications during the unit’s spring refueling outage. Specifically, these modifications involved replacement of electric actuators for several safety-related motor operated valves, and replacement of the main steam line drain valves that also serve as containment isolation valves.

V C Summer Nuclear Station (9-06 thru 11-06)

PROCEDURE WRITER - Planned and prepared new revisions to the plant Surveillance Test Procedure(s) for use in the fall and future outages. Specifically, STP(s) for their upcoming ECCS Charging/SI Injection Flow modification and other IST program procedures. Determined quantities of both personnel and components required for installation and testing of new emergency shutdown valves.

Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (9-91 thru 12-91), (2-03 thru 5-03), and (10-03 thru 12-03)

FIELD and DESIGN ENGINEER - Cognizant Engineer for piping and other mechanical modifications during the units’ refueling outages. Provided review resolution of discrepancies between design bases and operational data for NSSS and BOP components (i. e., supports, instrumentation, piping, HVAC, etc.). Determined time and material for installation and testing of HVAC components.

Davis-Besse Nuclear Plant (10-02 thru 11-02)

SENIOR CONSULTANT - Provided resolution of Condition Reports (CRs).

D. C. Cook Nuclear Power Station (6-99 thru 7-99), (9-99 thru 12-99), and (3-06 thru 4-06)

FIELD and SENIOR TEST ENGINEER - Provided resolution of emergent field issues pertaining to components and procedures; and upgrading of Appendix J, Check Valve, and Safety Relief Valve Programs of the various Inservice Inspection/Inservice Test (ISI/IST) programs. Assembled material for and performed Surveillance Instruction packages in the I & C Group.

LaSalle Nuclear Power Station (3-97 thru 5-98) and (1-99 thru 4-99)

SYSTEM ENGINEER - Prepared system functional performance reviews and engineering evaluations, especially for Inservice Inspection/Inservice Test (ISI/IST) issues, using a matrix review process for the formulation and implementation of plant restart action plans; and performed NSSS System Readiness Reviews and Modification Testing for the Reactor Water Cleanup and Reactor Building Floor and Equipment Drain Systems. This effort including specification of both quality and quantities of any required components.

Crystal River Three Nuclear Power Station (2-97 thru 3-97)

PROJECT ENGINEER - Prepared research and correlation of correspondence for preparation of an event time-line regarding the unit’s licensing commitment and compliance for the primary containment integrity as detailed in the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) and Technical Specifications.

Millstone Nuclear Power Station (5-96 thru 2-97) and (8-98 thru 12-98)

PROJECT ENGINEER - Participated in the 10CFR50.54(f) Design Basis Verification review and UFSAR rewrite effort; also ISI/IST and Appendix J Program reviews. Reviewed docketed correspondence and correlated documentary evidence of units’ licensing commitments and compliance. Prepared position papers regarding the status of their commitments and compliance. Prepared documentary evidence dossier of appropriate system, structures, and components [SSC(s)] design, licensing, and engineering bases. Participated in rewriting sections of the UFSAR and Design Basis Documents relating to the containment penetration Appendix A General Design Criteria and IST and Appendix J testing requirements. Also performed system engineering reviews and evaluations to determine appropriate procedural use and reference to, design basis information.

Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Station (11-95 thru 3-96)

SYSTEM and MAINTENANCE ENGINEER - Provided technical assistance for performance of preventative and corrective maintenance related activities for NSSS and BOP systems and components. Provided development and implementation of responses for Action Requests, Condition Resolutions, Problem Reports, and Discrepancy Reports. Prepared Maintenance Instructions, Modification Packages, 10CFR50.59 Safety Evaluations, and Root Cause Analyses for components of the service water, steam, HVAC, and diesel generators’ systems, along with quantity and quality of further specialty components.

EGS Corporation (4-95)

SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - Performed a comprehensive review, and recommended changes to ensure effectiveness, practicality, and regulatory compliance, of plans by the Department of Energy (DOE) to retire contaminated liquid radwaste storage tanks located at their Oak Ridge, Tennessee facility.

Brunswick Nuclear Station (3-94 thru 5-94) and (7-92 thru 4-93)

MAINTENANCE ENGINEER – Cognizant engineer for maintenance and modification activities. Assist in the reduction of the plant’s maintenance and engineering request backlog. Specific items of interest include Reactor Recirculation Pump seal replacement, Residual Heat Removal Service Water (RHRSW) pump/motor alignment and vibration analyses, Reactor Feed Pump/Turbine – disassembly/inspection/repair/reassembly, Potable and Well Water System, and other NSSS and BOP components. Determined time and materials for various projects encountered such as Reactor Feed Pump/Turbine Disassembly / Inspection / Reassembly, miscellaneous pump alignment installations, and installation of new Primary Water Supply Line.

River Bend Nuclear Station (2-92 thru 6-92)

OUTAGE PUMP AND VALVE COORDINATOR - Provided technical services during the unit refueling outage, for scheduling and coordination of testing and maintenance activities for pumps and valves. These activities included Local Leak Rate Test (LLRT) of containment isolation valves, Motor Operated Valve (MOV) Signature Testing per NRC Generic Letter 89-10, Pump and Valve Operability Testing, Valve Packing, and others.

Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (9-91)

SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - Researched design requirements and maintenance problems related to deficient operation of the site RHRSW pumps; and prepared procurement specifications for new pumps.

Scientific Ecology Group, Incorporated (6-91 thru 8-91)

TECHNICAL WRITER - Formulated and prepared Quality Assurance Documentation Procedures (Checklists) for client usage of a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) licensed Radwaste Transportation System; and Test Procedures for their radwaste volume reduction processing equipment.

Tennessee Valley Authority (12-70 thru 5-91)

SYSTEM ENGINEER - Assigned to the Technical Support Staff at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. Responsible for the preparation and coordination of maintenance, modification, and operational procedures and activities for the various balance-of-plant (BOP) systems to ensure their continued compliance with the applicable Codes, Standards, Regulatory, and Site Requirements. These tasks as well as those listed below include necessary project estimations.

PREOPERATIONAL TEST ENGINEER - Assigned to the Preoperational Test Staff at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. Prepared and Performed minutely detailed test instructions to verify, and document, specific functions and validate operability of systems and components in accordance with NRC REG GUIDE 1.68, and prior to their placement into operation.

TECHNICAL WRITER/EVALUATOR - Assigned to the Employee Concerns Task Group of TVA. Responsible for the preparation and implementation of "Evaluation Plans", utilized to outline and document the research and interviews conducted to determine the validity of employee concerns at TVA’s Nuclear Sites. These concerns questioned the Quality of Material procured, received, and used at their various sites; as well as, TVA's compliance with the applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

OUTAGE ENGINEER - Assigned to the Outage Management Staff at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. Development of valve maintenance program for use during unit refueling outages; particularly Primary Containment Isolation Valves, and others with Nuclear Safety Related functions. Cognizant Engineer for several refueling outages at other TVA Sites [i. e., Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BWR) and Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (PWR)]. Responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance on LLRT and other valves, feedwater heaters, and condensers.

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - Assigned to the Office of Design and Construction, Hartsville-Phipps Bend and Sequoyah Nuclear Design projects. Prepared the design, equipment layout, drawing preparation, and material specification for various NSSS and BOP systems such as RCW, Hydrogen Cooling, and Spent Fuel Pit Cooling. Assigned to the Office of Power-General Engineering Section with participated for the design and coordination of specialized projects to aid the operation of TVA's Hydro, Fossil, and Nuclear power plants, such as concrete and equipment inspections at hydro facilities and evaluating road worthiness of radwaste transportation equipment.
