• BP Refinery Firewater Improvement Study: Liaised with the refinery Fire Marshal, utility engineers and operators to define current hydraulic conditions and determine future design needs. • LNG Complex Revamp project: Performed FEED Phase P&ID verification, pump and piping hydraulic design, line list development and equipment specification. Accountabilities for the EPC phase consisted of detailed engineering work, including verification of existing P&ID’s and production of new P&ID’s.

• Natural Gas Monetization (GTL) Project for a major grassroots Gas To Liquids facility in Nigeria: Performed detailed engineering work, pump and system hydraulic calculations, equipment and instrument specification and vendor equipment verification. Provided mentoring of less experienced engineers.

• Gasoline Hydrotreating Unit Revamp: Performed FEED and detailed engineering design, including PFD/P&ID development and equipment specification. Coordinated with the piping, vessels, control systems, CADD, project management and client staff to expedite preparation and turnover of quality documents. Discovered and corrected a design basis discrepancy in the number of burners in existing furnaces, resulting in time and effort, and cost savings of over $800,000, in specifying and purchasing additional burners. Conducted a feasibility study and FEED of a terminal facility for a major refinery in Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean. Lago Oil & Transport Co. (Esso International refinery), Aruba, Dutch Caribbean. 1968 to 1980 Refinery Process Engineer / Senior Refinery Process Engineer / Terminal Manager Refinery Engineer responsibilities included process engineering support and project design for the Light Ends Fractionation, Gas Processing, Alkylation, Isomerization and Merox Treatment units in a 450,000 Bbl./day petroleum refinery. Responsible for the design, construction and installation verification, and startup of a 72,000 Bbl. ship ballast containment and oil/water separation system. Due to the success in oil recovery and environmental improvement, a second unit was recommended, designed and built. As the acting Oil Movements Operations Manager, directed 14 technicians, operators and maintenance personnel in crude oil storage allocation and plant feed scheduling, fuels blending, forecasting and planning of product shipping, and equipment maintenance for the refinery’s 10-million-barrel terminal facility. Devised a plan and supervised technicians and operators to correct the mercaptan sulfur specification in a 640,000-barrel floating roof tank of military aviation jet fuel, saving the refinery over $8 million in potential lost sales and ship demurrage.
