Summary

Hardworking student. Currently studying at COS for a Welding Associates Degree. Hardworking Chicano, so fluent in Spanish and English. Been working anywhere I could for as long as I could. Unofficially been working since freshman year either in local agriculture, dairies, construction like roofing/framing and other general labor jobs. Now I am focusing on getting my welding associates degree. I have plenty of work experience and am ready to pursue a career. I have all the traits of a valuable team member so I know I could be a great asset in any team I am put on and can quickly adjust to any conditions that come with the job.

Education

August 2021- May 2022

College of the Sequoias (COS) - Was studying for civil engineer I completed two semesters of college working towards a degree in civil engineering. I didn’t really like the work I was doing and couldn’t see myself making a career out of it. I plan on going back to school, just not sure what I want to study quite yet. January 2023- current

College of the Sequoias (COS) - Welding Associates Degree I returned to learn more about welding/ metal fabricating, a skill I picked up in highschool. I always liked hands-on stuff like working on cars, bikes and other complex systems. During my studies at COS I significantly expanded my knowledge about welding and metal fabrication, as well as other valuable traits that would help me in this trade, like the benefits of professional networking for example.

At COS I learned including, but not limited to; metallurgy/properties and traits of different metals and metal alloys. The three main processes in the trade(SMAW, GMAW spray and short circuit, GTAW) as well as how to braze copper piping. I became so proficient at these processes that I picked up a couple certifications and qualifications, for example my AWS D18.1 Welding of Austenitic Stainless Steel Tubing and Pipe Systems in Sanitary Applications ( also known as sanitary pipe welding).

At COS I received plenty of hands-on experience/ shop time that was meant to train us for a real world shop environment, which focused mostly on productivity, and limiting waste or being efficient. With this being said I do not have “work experience” in the welding trade, but I do have some experience in construction (roofing/framing) and plenty of shop time at COS that would accumulate to about 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a year doing a variety of different shop activities.
