ICC, Inc. Process Designer Moline, IL 11/14 to 6/9/2017

ICC Inc. is an engineering firm based out of St. Louis with a satellite office in Moline, IL where I worked as a process designer.

Examined engineering proposals for various industrial applications collecting and reviewing all informational resources pertaining to a given project.

Collected and assembled 3D laser scans of the project area producing a 3D point cloud and placing it to specified coordinates for detailed design.

Used industry standards to develop the specifications of equipment and piping required for the project.

Developed preliminary civil and structural requirements for the project.

Correlated efforts with the other Engineering groups including Process, Instrumentation and Controls, Structural, and Stress/Strain analysis.

Fluor is an Engineering firm that works for Flint Hills Resources, Koch Industries Management Company for Pine Bend Refinery. I was a piping designer there.

Utilized Process & Instrumentation diagrams.

Researched all old documentation related to the piping in question.

Determined a phase 1 routing strategy after a site visit

Correlated efforts with the other Engineering groups including Process, Instrumentation and Controls, Structural, and Stress/Strain analysis.

Determined the type of piping and insulation required by the industry standards for the application.

Implemented a full Cadworks Plant design of the piping to include 3D models, isometric diagrams, support points and all documentation related to the project.

John J. Morgan Company HVAC Estimator Sioux Falls, SD 6/2011 to 12/2012

JJ Morgan is an HVAC rep. Company for a number of HVAC manufacturers including Reznor, Titan, ThermoTec, EMI, Markel, and a few other smaller HVAC companies. I worked mainly on commercial applications covering North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

Investigated all the construction exchange sites for my states to determine various commercial HVAC needs.

Spent much time on the phone with HVAC suppliers and contractors seeking our advice and equipment directly.

Analyzed all information about the project and desired environmental control to determine the most appropriate HVAC equipment for the job.

Determined an appropriate sales margin for the potential client to keep J.J. Morgan in business while staying competitive in the market.

Compiled a package proposal including a detailed quote, an equipment brochure and an extensive set of design specifications including all technical data for the product quoted.

Determined which firms and/or contractors to send the package to adjusting the sales margin slightly for each according to J.J. Morgan company policy.

Integro S.G. Inc. Mechanical Engineer Worthing, SD 11/2009 to 8/2010

Did freelance Engineering consultation for a kernel fractionation device and for a water removal system to be retrofit into ethanol plants already in operation.

Designed new equipment for the water removal based on a newly patented steam driven, pressure differential water removal membrane adapted from existing technical specifications in Cadworks Plant software.

Determined the required control and bypass valves and desired instrumentation for the equipment and revised the as built plant P&ID’s accordingly.

Visited various Ethanol plants interested in the process to fully determine how to retrofit the equipment into existing systems.

Having determined a best equipment placement strategy, the most appropriate tie in points were determined to continue with the full pipe design process in CAD.

Extensive data and trend analysis used to develop spreadsheet and diagrams to prove the effectiveness of the kernel fractionation devise.

I was a mechanical designer working mainly with CADworks Plant design software to create efficient electrical and pipe routing throughout the plant structure.

Extensive use of P&ID’s for both design fields.

Electrical design mainly focused on electrical equipment and motor control center placement to minimize use of large gauge wire and voltage drops.

Worked mainly on the dryer systems which included some challenging steam and condensate piping and on the fermenter system which included placement of very large fermenter tanks, big pumps and heat exchangers and large bore, expensive stainless-steel pipe runs.

Developed the most cost-effective fermenter system design competing with my own lead engineer and another designer.
