Hydraulic and Pneumatic Mechanic GETCH Limited April 2010 – June 2023

Oversaw the selection of materials for fabrication of Dredger, design the schematic drawing of machinery and parts to be fabricated (using Lathes, milling and hand power tools), draw up routine maintenance of all equipment and machinery (including Earth moving Equipment like Bull Dozer, excavator, crane. Also on Conveyor Machines). Stock up spare part, make requisition and Import.

Key Responsibilities:

Carried preventative maintenance of hydraulic pumps of stationary machinery ( hydraulically operated water-tight doors, winches, shark Jaws, capstan, hydraulic -press)and mobile machinery (Excavator, cranes, bull-dozer) : Daily, Monthly and Annual maintenance.

Ensures the hydraulic system runs smoothly by daily checking the oil level, temperature changes in the oil, checks the oil for water or dirt, checks for leakages and verifying pressure gauge reading.

Carried out repair on the gear of the hydraulic pump.

Replaced a leaking hydraulic pressure hose of the winch

Fabricated the hydraulic system of the winch (tank, pipes, hoses and valves)

Changed the hydraulic seal of the crane boom.

Changed the track and the idler of the bull dozer.

Repaired the Pneumatic valves on dry and wet bulk tanks

Responsible for the technical and safety operations of the dredger and heavy duty equipment. Carried out the servicing and maintenance of pumps and generators of different types on land, swamp and offshore to meet the safety and QAQC standard of the clients.

Repair, Overhaul and maintained the Toyo submersible pumps(DP50 and DP75) changing the worn wear plate, agitator, bearings, seals, regular check for water in the oil chamber and replacement of oil where necessary.

Deputized for the First Engineer during which I fixed the Pneumatic Valve of the Air-Starting system of the generator, isolate, cleaned and reinstall the Heat Exchanger of the main engine. Related with the Captain and gave adequate information to the Bridge Crew.

Diagnosed faults and effect repairs on equipment and machinery onboard. Detected the temperature rise of the main engine, traced it to a clogged Sea Chest. Engine was shut down, cleaned and reinstall the Sea Chest filter and temperature was normalized.

Adhered to charterer work schedule and ensured soundings are accurately done

Responsible for daily sounding of fuel, oil and water

Responsible for the bilge system on board.

Bi-weekly maintenance of HVAC system onboard: cleaning air filters and checking system for leaks.

Maintained, calibrate and service all Pneumatic Valves on the bulk system.

Maintained the Azimuth and Bow thrusters; changing seals and greasing.

Maintained bulk pumps: rotary and centrifugal pumps.

Overhauling of Hydraulic pumps and re-kitting of hydraulic hoses.

Cadet Engineer on board MV Eugene Fromentin Vessel

Daily routine checks of oil and water level, air and electric starting system on main propulsion engine and generator. Carried out routine(hours) servicing of the main and auxiliary(generator) engine (oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter change)

Sounded Fuel, Oil and Water daily to ascertain quantity consumed and quantity left onboard.

Checked Zodiac (inflatable passenger boat) for leaks, outboard engine mounted for proper functioning before launch.

Operated deck crane and carried out its maintenance checking oil and water level and starting battery state.

Daily prepared all sandblasting equipment (Air compressor, pressure blast tank, hoses and nozzle) ready for use. Replaced defective parts or equipment before use.

Daily cleaned and or changed Air compressor filters, checked Air compressor engines oil and water level. Routine servicing of engine (changing oil, oil filters, fuel filters, air filters) are carried out.

Responsible for checking and changing vessel manhole/hatch seals.

Heavy Duty Mechanic

Preventive Maintenance on company's heavy duty equipment (Bulldozer, Crane, Forklift, Payloader and Trucks), servicing each equipment as at when due, bleeding air tanks, greasing and general maintenance.

Part of team that constructed conveyor system of the sand dryer. welding and fabrication works of the burner section of the sand dryer.

Worked with the chief mechanic to carry out replacement of bulldozer track Idler, replacement of crane boom seals, replacement of crane hydraulic hose and hydraulic pump.
