While serving in this position oversaw the day to day running of the laboratory to include performing testing and taking call when there were staffing shortfalls.

Oversaw the proficiency testing program, QA/QC program, scheduling and evaluation of staff.

Maintained inventory, as well as the budget and budget proposals. To include service contract renewals, standing order renewals, and contract negotiation for instrument upgrades as needed.

Oversaw a lab expansion that included the moving, setup, and necessary studies to demonstrate instrument performance of instrumentation after the relocation to the new core laboratory.

To facilitate an improvement in patient care PGH is starting a microbiology section for the laboratory. Worked cooperatively with other departments and administration to determine renovations needed to the space; equipment and supplies needed for the project, as well as increase in staffing necessary to add the additional section.

Worked cooperatively to ensure smooth interface and problem resolution between the laboratory and the other departments.

Led the Laboratory through multiple Federal and state inspections to include answering the SODs.

Elmore County is a 60-bed general hospital.

Served as direct reporting official for a QA coordinator, a microbiology supervisor, seven medical technologists, and five phlebotomists.

1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory and 12 hospital associated clinics. This included licensing, compliance, billing, QA/QC functions, inventory, contract negotiations, and continuing education.

2. Oversee all aspects of employment for laboratory staff. This included scheduling, payroll, evaluations, hiring, training, and discharge of employees.

4.Serve as infection control officer.

5. Provide continuing education to nursing staff and medical staff as needed or when requested.

6. Work with billing to ensure proper codes submitted for reimbursement. When a code is being rejected determine the cause and alternative coding. Provide updates to medical staff on pertinent changes to reimbursement codes for laboratory testing.

7. Maintain laboratory and associated clinics laboratory computer systems. This included upgrades, interfaces, and training for end users.

8. Ensure quality patient care and satisfaction.

9. Set and participate in community health fairs.

10. Work with sister facility to perform laboratory testing for them and decrease testing sent to reference laboratory.
