Safeway Mid-Atlantic

• Meat Department Manager - Arlington, VA December 1999 – Present Applied my skills and experience to excel beyond Acting Meat Manager to Meat Department Manager, demonstrating courtesy to customers and leading with efficiency for my team. In this role I upheld responsibility with following guidelines, managing costs and increasing sales while maintaining Gold for Good customer service standards. While in this position, a notable achievement of mine was turning around a store in the fourth quartile to a number one store in only three short months. Additional skills include:

o Managing schedules, supervising, training, and assigning duties to meat cutters and meat wrappers. o Maintaining inventory of floor stock, cooler, and freezer stock daily. o Tracking markdowns and distress and sales to purchase ratios wile maintain.

• Apprentice Cutter Program - Washington, DC March 1996 - December 1999 Working as an apprentice under the instruction of Doug Roberts, the lead Butcher at the time, prepared me for start of my career as a meat manager. This opportunity taught me the fundamentals of meat quality and cutting, while proving competency to understand and follow instruction and developing my customer service skills. Additional skills demonstrated in this position included: o Ensuring that product quality standards were met when trimming, grinding, packaging, labeling and wrapping.

o Completing daily log sheet and other required paperwork and logs with clarity and accuracy. o Adhering to food safety standards and following the established cutting procedures in accordance with safe meat cutting equipment operations.

• Deli Counter Clerk – Washington, DC August 1995 – March 1996 As Deli Clerk I was able to impact sales positively by demonstrating exemplary customer service, promoting deli products and services, and providing food samples. What I enjoyed most in this role in addition to learning policies and procedures, was the opportunity to interact with my customers and creating a positive and welcoming experience for them.

o Stock and organize workstations and display areas. o Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools and equipment, and support team members by following company food safety policies.
