Naval Health Clinic Annapolis, Brigade Medical Unit Dec 2019 to Present

Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) for 5 clinics: Naval Health Clinic Annapolis, MD and Naval Branch Health Clinics: Bancroft Hall, Anapolis, MD / Earle, NJ / Lakehurst, NJ / Philadelphia, PA

Work to improve the health of individuals, families, communities, and populations by optimizing information management and communication. Collaborate with Orthopedic and Mental Health providers to maintain an appropriately staffed Concussion Clinic which cares for the long-term health of midshipmen with head injuries.

Worked with staff to maintain an efficient orthopedic sick-call process for 4500 Navy Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy during the COVID 19 Pandemic, ensured proper social distancing while affording patients prompt care for injuries.

Immunizations Supervisor

Responsible for the training, staffing, and scheduling of all Immunization Clinic staff.

Work with the head of the command Immunization department to track missing and due vaccines for 4500 Midshipmen and coordinate evolutions or individual appointments to ensure 100% compliance.

Member of the One-Day Immunizations Team that administers all immunizations for incoming plebes to the Naval Academy

Supervise three corpsmen who are specially trained to provide vaccines and ensure their training stays current.

Supervisor (OCONUS Travel Medical Screening, United States Naval Academy)

Performs all duties as a Registered Nurse and International Travel Health Counselor.

Coordinate with the Midshipmen Personnel Office to obtain and review all rosters of Midshipmen who travel abroad.

Review all medical and immunization records of midshipmen traveling abroad, checking for the individual’s conditions that could be negatively impacted by travel and verify required immunizations specific to areas of travel.

Review travel itineraries with midshipmen, providing counsel on location-specific health and travel hazards. Review safety briefs and provide Travax reports pertinent to their travel.

Administer necessary vaccinations. Provide all prophylactic medications required by travel destinations.

Staff Nurse (Family Practice)

Perform all duties as a Registered Nurse.

Supervise 20 enlisted personnel in the care of 4500 Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy.

Assist with difficult lab draws or IV starts; assist all medical providers with routine patient care; provide prompt medical care in the event of emergencies.

Coordinate after-care for midshipmen seen at outside facilities.

Manage all provider schedules and ensure all FTEs are met.

Work with the command Disease Management Nurse Specialist to identify and coordinate Well Woman Exam Evolutions for all female midshipmen over age 21 and facilitate an annual Gonorrhea / Chlamydia screening evolution for all female midshipmen.

With the Department Head and the Director of Brigade Medical, created and implemented a COVID 19 response plan to include isolation spaces, isolation monitoring, and screening evolutions. Provided ongoing care to midshipmen who contracted COVID 19.

Naval Hospital Pensacola Nov 2016 to Nov 2019

Clinic Manager (PEC / DENTAL)

Performed duties as the Registered Nurse Manager by coordinating all patient care activities within the unit.

Worked with a select group of nurses to evaluate current pre-operative practices and develop an all-inclusive Pre-operative Evaluation Center to better serve the needs of both patients and staff, as part of a Black Belt project

Was responsible for the operation of the clinics while supervising two full-time pre-operative nurses, one dental hygienist, one dental assistant, and ten corpsmen, and coordinating the needs of all surgical specialty providers in a pre-operative capacity.

Provided local IV conscious sedation for over 150 OMFS patients, allowing the OR to better utilize their spaces and staff.

Wrote a new SOP and Business Operating Rules for the PEC. Updated and maintained the Dental SOP.

Clinic Manager (APU / PACU/ENDO / INFUSION SERVICES)
