A Business Office Medical Support Lead with seasoned experience in carrying out day to day administration to include Effectively managing front desk functions and coverage, ensuring all tasks are performed in accordance with DHA, MCAHC and clinic policy while maintaining minimal manning during core business hours. Coordinates coverage and keep the GPM aware of any deficiencies in staffing, ensures all MSAs are trained in front desk functions (EOD, MHS Genesis, Power chart,Secure Messaging, ACD, HAIMS). and alerts the GPM of any discrepancies in this area. Medical Support Assistant (LEAD), McDonald Army Health Center (Family Health) October 2009 –Present

• performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of a clinical unit in a medical/treatment facility

• Knowledge of working with Composite Health Care system (CHCS) Athena and EPIC, Patient appointing System (PAS) module and (MEDPROS)Medical Operational Data System for the McDonald Army Health Center. Performs typing work using a personal computer or typewriter.

• Uses database, spreadsheet, software to record, revise, correct, merge, print and program material. Receives visitors to assigned clinics.

• Schedules and coordinates appointments for patients in various clinics throughout the facility also formatting question appeals, ensures all treatment requested by the physician has been scheduled or reschedules appointments when necessary and prepare for recruitment, relocation, and retention incentive for civilian providers. The knowledge of expert advice on resolving referral discrepancies.

. Ascertains the nature of telephone calls or visitors’ consultations. Assist patients in developing needed evidence and preparing required documents. Perform electronic dispositions on all consults.

• Obtains information, determines nature for urgency.

• Knowledge of regulations pertaining to release of medical information, preparation, maintenance and disposition of outpatient records

• receives new and established patients to the clinic updating all necessary demographic information. Implements policy and procedures and schedules to achieve objectives.

• Ensures all patient related concerns are following the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) as well as Class(LEAF)workstation system.

• Knowledge of Medical Health record, documentation, calendars and forms needed.

• serves as a Liaison between Clinics, Physical exam section and other sections of the Health Center. Make direct contact with department or clinic chiefs to verify appointment schedules.

• Modifying schedules as necessary. The knowledge of the flow of referrals for obtaining specialty care services.

• Verifies Patients Defense Enrollment Eligibility Registration System (DEERS) for treatment by using the Composite Health Care System (CHCS).

• Process telephone consults to appropriate nurse/physician. Knowledge of working ALTHA/CHCSII along with ADS to access the DOD patient workload accounting systems. Compiles and summarizes data for the (NAL)

• Schedule and coordinate appointments for soldiers in physical exams explaining necessary test preparations to patients.

• Track no shows, MEB, and physical exam appointments from start to completion.

• Explains significance of completion of forms (intake form, physical form) to ensure all forms are completed accurately. Assisting in completing spreadsheets for data collection.

• Responsible for entering appropriate labs for the physical exams, file results of laboratory results, x-rays, EKG and other medical results in medical records.

• Maintains end of day processing.

• Maintains logs, records and assembles and annotates documents.

• Communicate clearly, friendly, courteously and effectively with patients and staff.
