MOST EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION METHODS:

With most students, (mild-moderate-severe), communication, non-verbal/verbal both,

Communication is encouraged, and most often consists of a whole language method, with these Components: Vocabulary, Grammar and Reading Comprehension.

A phonological/articulation method increases intelligibility the fastest, so that children can be understood the fastest, while they are developing and learning their sounds. The (pecs) picture exchange communication system, and augmentative devices, such as ipac, (with trainings) are most effective with non-verbal students.

Each child must have the ability to be understood by others, and express themselves well. Motivational activities, collaboration, current strategies, community resources, and home practice, facilitate the progress and achievement with all therapy goals. Then, clients can attain their community/volunteer, personal and professional goals.

With more severe students, and/or younger children, daily living skills/functional communication Skills are taught first, at their ability level, and with older students, and/or more advanced children, are taught vocational/professional terms/goals.
