Senior Finance Manager– Accounting Executive with 20 years of experience managing both finance and accounting teams in retail grocery and manufacturing. My experience included responsibility for general ledger accounting, audit, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and business process development along with extensive cost accounting supervision and maintenance. Both Whole Foods and Josephs Classic Market were start up’s in the early stages of their business development and I was the lead developing, and implementing process and procedures that included accounting, audit, store performance. After those two businesses’ I moved into manufacturing and cost accounting and management using Netsuite and Microsoft Business Dynamics.

Senior Staff Accountant

Period Close review and journals posted to map labor to activities and departments for all payroll entries for 150 employees. Reconciliation for AP entries back serval years to map to the duration and schedule of the service provided. Required contract comparisons. Audit oversight for older transaction going back several years. Thorough balance sheet reviews for AP and accruals. Cost accounting consulting to make sure the items and BOM reflected that.

Florida’s Naturals March 2022 to October 2022

Senior Oracle Finance Manager of a new ERP App being developed specifically for Florida’s Naturals. Responsible for unit standard costing for thousands of items in the blends. Focused on standard costing for a complicated valuation process for a unit of measure which varies based on composition and sugar content. Gallon and orange sugar Brix. Development support for a unique structural model requiring multiple units of measure valuations. Participated in period closing to make sure the new standard costing was accurate and correct. Forecasting and budgeting for standard cost going forward out several months. Had to cut my contract short due to family illness.

Job description changed from to being an auditor correcting accounting entries going back years as a Privately hold business entity. Regional Finance Director for a $600 million dollar business – Accounting, FP&A

Feb 2000 to Aug 2012

Defined, developed and implemented all business process and procedures for a startup region.

Performed preparation for all income statements and balance sheets. Performed all FP&A tasks including planning, forecasting, and budgeting monthly performance analytics comparing sales, margin, and labor to a set of benchmarks at a product category level for which each store had a minimum of 18 departments per store. This information was reviewed directly with each store’s management team in a monthly leadership all-hands regional meeting. Category sales, margin and labor was reported directly to the department managers and explained on site routinely. This included restaurant venues in every store plus a regional kitchen and bakery.

Provided analytics training and support quarterly in training sessions inside each store to develop better understanding of the financials, their importance, and how they could be managed better by the operators.

Supervised and participated in periodic 28-day inventory counts for 18 business units that included over $20M in inventory. Directed purchasing to make smart data driven purchases based on demand at a sku level for 50,000 items per store. Forecasted buying budgets at a department level by week for 18 sub-departments for each store. Drove monthly perishable shrink loss down by $500,000 a month.

Developed and presented to corporate executive leadership high level performance and plans.

Responsible for accounting leadership, supervision, capital approval, large discretionary expenditures. Ledger oversight and review performed by 12 directs (4 Managers) and 40 store AP and cash accountants.

Provided full construction accounting and budgeting for all new stores and remodels. This covered $100M of annual spending and required detailed accounting entries for each asset put into service along with all GC billings.

Responsible for all regional accounting transactions including all assets. Led period, quarter and full year closing reconciliations, journals, g/l and balance sheet integrity and accuracy, SOX, GAAP and Ernst & Young audit readiness.

Led design and implementation of regional accounting process, planning, receiving, and AP. Developed and provided in-store training for financial performance and procedures. Developed and implemented a breakthrough review and approval procedure for all store expense AP which was adopted by all regions.

Supported 18 stores, a 100,000 sq. foot distribution center, regional bakery, corporate HQ, $600M sales, 2,400 employees.

Performed ROI analysis and review for every prospective new store. 8 to 10 prospective new stores a year.

Performed similar M&A analytics for a large acquisition to determine the impact to the region.
