I am familiar with or have been exposed to a range of manufacturing theories and standards including: Lean Manufacturing, Cross Functional teams, 5S, Kaizen, 8 Wastes and various ISO standards. I’m a strong supporter of collaboration between the folks on the floor and management to, ensure the best possible outcome for any project, and strongly believe multi level project planning is essential! I have been involved with safety in almost all positions I have held and understand the Maintenance department is essential to maintaining a safe working environment.

For the last 12 years, I have primarily supported the mechanics that perform the day to day activities through management and administrative support but I don’t mind lending a hand when manpower is short or a large project demands an extra body.

Professional Achievements –

Rebuilt a Maintenance department plagued by turn over and poor employee quality. Moved away from poorly skilled employees and hired skilled employees that brought individual strengths to make a department full of specialist.

Implemented CMM software and assisted with an aggressive business expansion including more than doubling the number of large CNC machines, peripheral equipment and support systems.

Traveled throughout the Portland area managing multiple maintenance departments. Upgraded the maintenance management system to utilize computer software. Created from the ground up a tier program to improve the education and training of mechanics to assist them with career advancement. Created a project management process to improve project planning and data collection.

Worked daily to update a severely regressed maintenance department and move it closer to a 21century organization which embraces: the collection of repair data, improved communication with management, greatly improved planned maintenance, enhanced use of computers and a philosophy of customer service. I strived to improve technician accountability, increase departmental organization and make other minor adjustments to improve various tasks accountable to our department. Created a LOTO program and wrote associated work instruction for its use. Attended manager meetings intended to tweak maintenance activities in support of production needs

Continued a planned maintenance completion rate of at least 98 percent, month after month, on more than 1000 separate pieces of equipment, after a team reduction of 15 to 3 individuals. This compared to a rate of 50 to 70 percent from other maintenance departments, in the same company, which comparatively was responsible for many fewer pieces of equipment,

Upgraded and moved 16 silicon ingot growing machines. Working with another technician, we manage a year-long project designed to increase efficiency and output. My responsibility in moving each of the 25’ tall machines included: documenting and moving all of the electrical wiring, cables, gas lines, and water lines on the machines. Purchased the materials needed to complete the move with a budget of $150,000. Trained and supervised 5 contracted personnel hired to assist in the move. Attend management meetings to provide status updates concerning the project

Managed a project to reorganize manufacturing space and build new rooms, allowing the company to install new equipment and begin a new product line, Hired representatives from all the building trades including: construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting. Organized existing departments into a smaller footprint utilizing Lean Manufacturing Principles.

Created a planned maintenance program for circuit board drilling machines designed to increase uptime and lower vendor repair cost.

At several of my past positions, I supported the Supply Chain by building relationships with primary and second source vendors. Ensured timely parts and service support by clarifying needs and constantly following up on outstanding orders.
