Primary Responsibilities
Lead programmer analyst for all legacy MicroFocus COBOL program requests including but not limited to the following modules: Inventory, Payroll, Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger over a 20+ year period. Maintained over 400 Microfocus COBOL programs with embedded Oracle SQL calls
oDesigned, developed, provided programming required to implement a Water Budget module for specific customer classes (residential, multi-family, irrigation and commercial). Worked closely with Customer Service staff to ensure successful implementation.
oDesigned, developed, tested and successfully implemented a “Write Off” module for Customer Service for bad accounts.
oHelix Water District previously performed all sewer billing for the cities of El Cajon and La Mesa. I assisted in the “cities” separation process from Helix: reporting, research programmed business processes and data file extract refinement. Also, completed all necessary programming to “remove/clean up” all “cities” processes in nightly jobs.
oImplemented and programmed complex changes to the PERS calculations in Payroll, PRES Reporting, and W2 generation to address MOU changes and new legal requirements requiring the addition of several new deduction codes.
Creating and maintaining Unix Shell scripts as requirements change.
oWorked closely with the Senior System Administrator on the project to move and test the COBOL applications running on the HP/UX Unix OS to the latest Linux OS. This included re-compiling the COBOL programs and the dailyjob and other UNIX scripting to insure correct and parallel functioning with the current production HP/UX based platform.
oRemoved all report “hot printing” from nightly batch jobs and replaced with date stamped versions for printing and archiving purposes.
Managing, reporting and manipulating data via PL/SQL queries as needed
oWorked closely with Finance to provide assistance in providing SQL generated reports and extracted data as needed
oCreated UNIX queries for :
City of Lemon Grove consumption data for GIS.
County Water Authority and La Mesa Water comimption
Primary contact for creating the COBOL programs and scripts for the following conversion projects working with third party subject matter experts.
oXC2 Backflow application data conversion
oLegacy COBOL Billing and customer account information data conversion to Cayenta
