DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participating in all flight line operations involving visiting aircraft, both civilian and military. The immediate service output will be conducted by a company vehicle, both within the airfield limits and the wider KAF footprint.

To provide fellow me, marshaling, aircraft parking, aircraft starting, application of group power, air-conditioning, air start services, aircraft push back and towing.

Responsible for the provision of basic elementary service tasks which include nitrogen, oxygen servicing as well as garbage pickup, brake chute pick up and toilet servicing.

Conduct and lead vehicle and aircraft convoys throughout KAF airfield.

Ensure that communication with Base Operations (BOC), Fire Department and Control Tower is maintained at all times, this is achieved primarily with radio equipment.

Foster a healthy safety culture including the participation and conduct of toolbox talks and meetings.

Maintain all daily statistical records and ensure end of shift reports are completed.

Carry out Ground Support equipment (GSE) daily inspections and perform basic preventative maintenance on all GSE and vehicles, including the reporting of deficiencies.

Move and load hazardous wastes under direction of supervisor.

Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood and plastic.

Follow company standards and legal regulations to ensure safe and positive work atmosphere.

Maintain forklift equipment by troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, recommending repairs and performing routine pre and post inspections.

Maintain material handling equipments by recharging, cleaning, oiling, refueling and other necessary actions, and record all information on log sheet.

Study production schedule to determine material requirements, movements and deliveries.

Record information regarding movements of supplies, materials and finished products.

Assist with the safe, expedient and professional turn-round of all allocated transport aircraft,

Remains aware of all classes of UN Dangerous Goods DG) that may form part of an aircraft load,

Operates all types of Air Cargo Handling Equipment (ACHE) and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) within close proximity of aircraft,

Maintains a sound understanding of marshaling signals and act only on the instructions of a Ramp Supervisor,

Manually handles both passenger baggage and cargo when building or breaking down aircraft pallets and when ACHE and MHE are not suitable for the task,

Caries out daily preventative maintenance of all ACHE and MHE, in accordance with the vehicle DI’s sheet,

Maintains a safe, cleans and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) free working environment,

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operates Ground Support Vehicles & equipment in order to provide efficient and timely service for flight operations in the ramp.

Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation,

Maintains a safe and secure working environment, whilst consistently delivering an operation to the highest standards.

Coordinates with team members to ensure smooth operations of non-technical aircraft servicing.

Ensures that vehicles / equipment are marshaled in and out to and from the aircraft in a safe manner.

Provides routine and comprehensive maintenance of fuel trucks.

Responsible for repair and maintenance of all ground support equipment including, but not limited to, tugs, belt loaders, push backs and jet bridges.

Responds to emergency calls for ground support equipment assistance.
