Professional Experience

Position: Supply Chain Manager, Materials Management 2008-2018

Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center is a 610 bed not-for-profit hospital that includes Barrow Neurological Institute, the Heart and Lung Institute, University of Arizona Cancer Center, West Gate Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center, Research, Physician Internship and Fellowship, and many other medical services.

Managed operations for the following departments: Central Supply, Mail Services, and Shipping and Receiving with a staff of 35 and total operating budgets of $28,000,000.00.

•Responsible for the management of $2.6 million in inventory including operating rooms, ICU, cath lab, radiology, special procedures, nursing, etc.

•Reduced lost changes by 20% through implementation of par stock handhelds and Omnicell supply cabinets in all supply inventory locations.

•Cross trained and empowered shipping, receiving, mail and central supply staff resulting in reduction of 3.5 FTE (full-time equivalent positions).

•Managed receiving and distribution activities which average 26 pallets, 500 Federal Express and UPS packages per day for a multi-building campus with over 2,000,000 square feet as well as offsite facilities reaching 10 miles.

•Improved order requisitioning efficiency by participating in the conversion to Lawson Material Management/Financial software system resulting in the development of custom requisition templates for all hospital supply ordering departments which improved ease of use for requisitioners and maintain product standardization.

•Developed paperless validation of supply deliveries which resulted in 15% improvement in productivity and expedited delivery verification.

•Reduced inventory by $750,000 through implementation of ROP (reorder points), EOQ (economic order quantity) based on product usage history resulting in 24% reduction of stock outs and improved departmental efficiency.

•Negotiated and initiated third party postage program resulting in $45,000 reduction in cost and elimination of 2 FTE (full-time equivalent) staff.

•Participated in opening of new West Gate Hospital, Cancer Center and Barrow Neurological Tower with specific responsibility for equipment and supply placement.

•Participated in several hospital committees including: Product Evaluation Team, Environment of Care, Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Joint Commission Review.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is a 465-licensed-bed, freestanding children's hospital that provides specialty pediatric services in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, trauma, and urgent care.

Manage supply chain and charge capture for the following departments: Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology.

Responsible for management of specialty items for both departments. Capture patient charges for all chargeable items. Reduce supply cost by adjusting par levels and monitor expiration dates and work with primary vendors to exchange supplies before they expire. Review physician requests for new items and have them justify the need or replacement. Saved the company over $47,000.00 in supply costs the first year. Monitor the monthly supply variance reports for both departments. Add new and delete obsolete items. Work with ParEX, Lawson, Excel for ordering and managing supplies. I also work with CPM for capturing patient charges.
