Interested in the service writer position.

Skills

Self-starter and self-motivated

Have been working in the automotive fields for 30 years in different attributes.

Able to interact with all levels of individuals from the most tech minded to the luddite.

Very solid understanding of all aspects of the automotive repair business from customer interactions to technicians in the repair bays.

Experience

2007 – CURRENT

Owner / Mobile West AutoCraft, Portland, OR

Mwpdx.us

Purchased Mobile West from my old boss, Don Ostrom. Divorce is a thing…. I have taken it from a $500k/yr. business to 1.6m last year without outside investors. Just by doing the right thing and making happy customers with great sounding audio systems. Can manage everything from the easiest sale to the pickiest service complaints. Manage expenses and make a profit in lean years as well as during the strongest times.

1998 – 2007

Owner / Peter Clover Enterprises, Portland, OR

Started and grew an executive transportation business from the ground up. Contracts with CAREY Limousines, Prestige Limousines and lots of NIKE and INTEL executives. Started as 1 car operator and grew to a 5 vehicle fleet. Sold company to my drivers to fund the purchase of Mobile West.

1993 – 1998

Sales Manager / Mobile West, Portland, OR

Hired after coming back from the military as a sales person. Almost immediately became sales manager. Grew business from a 400k/yr. to $800k/yr. store. Managed sales/planning and installation bays. Loved the job, but left for new opportunities after realizing the owner had no further plans other than just maintaining the shop at its current capabilities, and was not interested in the 5 year plan I was hired to execute.

1992 – 1993

E4 11-C MOS/ US Army, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC

Had an excellent experience that showed me that my limits and capabilities are way beyond whatever I can imagine my capabilities of being. Also, and most importantly, taught me who I didn’t want to be.

Education

JUNE 1991

BSEE / Tulane University, New Orleans, LA

I have an Electrical Engineering degree for one of the top 20 schools in the USA. I had 4 1st gen Macintosh computers in my 1974 VW bus and custom input/output circuits as a full 4ch DSP for my senior design project. Cars/Music/Electronics.

Activities

Cars, Motorcycles and Audio. Love to fish and camping, but being a small business owner limits that opportunity.

2002 and 2008 Ducati Monster

1996 BMW R1150R

1974 MGB Roadster (fully restored, several times. I’ve owned since 1995 and put over 300k miles on her) Audio consists of Alpine CDE-164BT. Virtus NANO Carbon separates front doors, ADMW 9 in the kick panels, MPS5.950 running active

1974 BMW 2002 (Fresh off a bare-metal respray) assembling as we speak. Full Dynamat. 5-speed conversion, classic sport sedan, daily driver. Audio consists of Alpine ILX-207 in custom console, Virtus NANO coax in front kick panels. Diamond under seat subwoofer. Simple, clean discreet and musical

1992 Mercedes 500E. Rebuilt from a total, but I’ve had her for 15 years and she is immaculate. Alcantara and leather interior. Valuable car, so went with a no-cut/no-modification audio package. Alpine CDE-HD149BT head unit. Hybrid Integra 402 in the dash and rear locations. ADMW 6 in the front doors. Ultimo SC12 Subwoofer. Audison VOCE 5.1k for amplification, and deck power for rear fill.

And several other Mercedes and shop vehicles. Shown with audio packages from Alpine s-type to Audison Thesis.
