Black Knight Financial Services (Jacksonville, FL) 5/2019 – 6/2020

Mainframe Operations Manager, Enterprise Command Center

Responsible for leading a team of 25 Mainframe Operations personnel consisting of Computer Operators, Production Support Analysts and Mainframe Application Development supporting a large z/OS production online and batch environment 24x7x365. Black Knight provides financial services for over 75 major banks, credit unions and mortgage companies processing over 70% of the U.S. home mortgages in the Atlanta and Jacksonville data centers. The team monitors over 80,000 production batch events per week, ensuring all SLAs are met in a time critical schedule. Scheduling tools used are ZEKE/ZENA and CA-ESP for Mainframe and Distributed environments. I was responsible for writing all Performance Reviews for the team, as well as Performance Ratings, Salary Increases and budgeting those increases across the team based on performance. I was also responsible for Performance Improvement Plans, Quarterly Touchpoints, and setting annual goals for the team. I held monthly team meetings to go over all upcoming activities and special events for the month. Responsible for ensuring all scheduled changes were performed and completed as scheduled. Ensured team was available and performed all scheduled D/R activities successfully each month. Some of my accomplishments were:

1.Assist with implementation of Service Now into the Mainframe Operations environment to ensure a smooth transition from CA-Service Desk to Service Now.

2.Assist with smooth transition from ZEKE/ZENA scheduling tool to CA-ESP.

3.Ensure proper training was scheduled for all team members, regarding use of CA-ESP and Service Now before going live.

4.Migration of 160 formal operations procedures from SharePoint over to Service Now Knowledge Base. All documentation is now formally stored in one place (Knowledge Base).

5.Completed formal management training/seminar over 4-month period and participated in formal presentations on how Regulatory Requirements affect Black Knight both positively & negatively.

6.Setup/monitored KPI’s to be used for tracking team activities and performance via Service Now.

7.Eliminated Weekly On-call Manager rotation, recommending that each manager be responsible for his/her own teams call outs/sick leave activities, rather than having 1 manager being on call for over 50 team members.

Automated Data Processing – ADP (Chicago, IL) 10/2018 – 5/2019

Mainframe Operations Team Lead, Global Command Center

Responsible for leading a team of 8 Operations Analysts covering dayshift 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM 7 days a week in a 24x7x365 Global Command Center running large production batch and online processing on 48 z/OS LPAR’s and 60+ z/Linux guests. Responsible for performing Mainframe IPLs for scheduled outages and maintenance. Also assisted manager with weekly tag up meetings to discuss upcoming weekend activities. Attended all Change Management meetings to ensure the team was aware of all nightly and weekend activities being performed. Also logged improvements/recommendations for streamlining tasks the team performed into database, to track recommendations and items for improvement. Worked on tickets for all abends and ensured tickets were closed quickly, to meet all SLAs of the customers. BMC Control M/O/R were used for automation/scheduling tools. Opened new tickets and assigned them to support teams, to be able to track our own tickets that we worked versus reassigning to another area. Reviewed weekly reports that were generated from Service Desk to ensure team had a good balance of tickets across all personnel. This was also used to track performance.

National Government Services – NGS (Baltimore, MD) 5/2014 – 4/2017

Manager, Enterprise Operations Center (EOC)

Manager, Enterprise File Transfer (EFT)

Responsible for ramping up and hiring a team of 15 people making up the Enterprise Operations Center (Applications Monitoring, Crisis Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Security Incident Management) for a $450 Million contract with the Federal Government (Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services) in Baltimore, MD. Responsible for ramping up and hiring a team of 12 people making up the Enterprise File Transfer team supporting over 20,000 file transmissions a day in the Federal data center in Baltimore, MD. The team supported Gentran, Connect Direct, and TIBCO MFT software tools. Ensured all assigned production applications of CMS were being closely monitored from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday through Friday. Also responsible for ensuring the Crisis Management team was engaged for all SEV1 tickets that were opened in Remedy. Responsible for engaging in all Postmortem and Root Cause Analysis discussions to address reoccurring problems with Problem Management team and Federal Government. Ensured all Security Incidents that were opened in Remedy were worked in a timely manner and that I participated in all weekly Security Incident Review meetings with the Federal Government (CMS) each week and any security issues were reported to the Chief Security Office of CMS. Worked with CMS to finalize/complete any mitigations/risks regarding security incidents that were designated as high risk or area of concern. Held weekly team meetings to discuss issues and activities for the week. Responsible for chairing the Weekly Change Management meeting with 100+ contractors and Federal government team leads. In these meetings, we reviewed the weekly changes that were to be scheduled over the next 7 days. Responsible for all annual Performance Reviews, Salary reviews/increases, annual goals for individual team members, and allocating money across the team for salary increases and annual bonuses. Some of my accomplishments were:

1.Successfully created 100 EFT Procedures in 6 months for Federal contract Ramp for CMS.

2.Successfully created 75 EOC Procedures in 6 months for Federal contract Ramp for CMS.

3.Successfully staffed EOC and EFT team members (27) within a 4-month time frame to ensure we were ready for contract “go live” beginning December 2014.

4.Successfully selected application monitoring tools and all related hardware and software that were to be used for monitoring CMS and NGS production applications by December 2014 “go live”.

5.Successfully held collaboration meetings with all key CMS team leads and Federal contractors to discuss what was expected of Weekly Change Meetings, how to communicate SEV1 outages via Crisis Management team and developing overall core relationships among the various VDC’s (Virtual Data Centers) consisting of Lockheed Martin, HP, GDIT, IBM, Verizon, AT&T, Amazon, CDS, CMS Marketplace).

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services -HPES (Herndon, VA) 10/2013 – 5/2014

Data Center Operations Manager

Responsible for assisting with helping HP bid on a $1 Billion Federal contract for the CMS Data Center located in Baltimore, MD. Since I was working at Lockheed Martin and currently managing the Baltimore data center for CMS, HP hired me to help them write the formal proposal and also give a formal presentation of how HP would successfully run the Baltimore Data Center. After completing the written proposal and giving the presentation to CMS, HP waited for word on whether we won the bid. During that time, I was responsible for managing 6 team members consisting of Change Management Data Center Facilities, and Asset Management. The facilities team members were located at HP’s 400,000 sq. ft. data center in Tulsa, OK. I was responsible for ensuring the team was at the Weekly Change Meetings that Lockheed Martin currently hosted each week and to represent HP’s changes for the week. My accomplishments while at HP were:

1.Assist with ensuring HP had a finalized written proposal to present to CMS in 3 months.

2.Assist with being prepared for a formal presentation of my job responsibilities and how I would ensure HP was successful in managing and relocating their federal data center from Baltimore, MD to Tulsa, OK if HP won the contract.

Lockheed Martin Corp (Baltimore, MD) 10/2007 – 10/2013

Data Center Operations and Facilities Manager

Responsible for managing a team of 36 team members consisting of Computer Operators, Production Support, Automation and Data Center hardware /technical analysts. Ensured all production batch processing and activities were planned, scheduled, and completed accurately and on-time. This includes job monitoring, setup, maintenance, and scheduling of production application systems and 24 x 7 x 365 front-line on call support for all production processing and all hardware install/de-installs in a 38,000 sq. ft. Federal data center located in Baltimore, MD. Responsible for all hiring and terminations of employees and contractors in Data Center Operations. Responsible for all Performance Evaluations, Performance Improvement Plans, Annual Goal Setting for each employee, and Salary reviews and proposed increases. Some of my accomplishments were:

1.Reduced hardware maintenance & supply costs by eliminating unnecessary printers & tape drives.

2.Reduced required floor space by over 4,000 sq. ft. with data center modernization project by reducing 500,000 tape slot library to 36,000 slots over a period of 3 years via tape virtualization.

3.Improved data center cooling by adding Hot & Cold aisle rack configurations and removing over 6,000 ft of old data center cable from under raised floors.

4.Successfully upgraded/installed 5 new mainframe processors over a period of 6 years.

5.Successfully installed TDWC (Tivoli Dynamic Workload Console) GUI interface into production environment for better scheduling and automation on Mainframe and UNIX platforms. This improved overall production processing and reduced failure rates to .000035%.

6.Reduced computer operator / tape librarian tape filing errors from 35% down to 0% by incorporating new tape library processes/checkoff procedures, implementing quarterly tape library inventories, and using scanning technology to track and locate tapes.

7.Revised / created over 175 Computer Operator, Production Support and Data Center Facilities SOP’s in 1 year and developed tracking mechanism to ensure each team member was reviewing all procedures twice a year.

8.Developed metrics for tracking Computer Operator and Tape Librarian activities. Metrics provided statistics on how many tapes were filed by each person daily as well as those misfiled.

Hertz Corporation – (Oklahoma City, OK) 2/2005 – 10/2007

Supervisor, Systems Security Monitoring

Responsible for ensuring all raw system/security logs for OS390, AS400, Tandem, Unix, HP/MPE, DEC/Alpha, Network and Windows environments are captured daily, analyzed for security violations and threats, and all security issues are reported and turned over to the various user groups for follow-up and resolution. Developed System Operations Procedures (SOP) for each of the 8 platforms being monitored by the Systems Security Monitoring team to ensure proper procedures are followed for monitoring security violations on system logs. I was responsible for hiring and managing a team of 6 Security Analysts. Some of my accomplishments were:

1.Helped Hertz successfully launch and ramp up a Security Monitoring team consisting of 6 Security Analysts and 4 Sr. Security Analysts by interviewing and hiring qualified candidates.

2.Performed Proof of Concept on 3 different Security Monitoring tools that would collect log data for 8 different platforms in Hertz Global Data Center and then normalize the log information and track security attacks and/or errors in various log data, which then automatically opened a ticket.

3.Built Security Procedures for the team to follow to remain Sarbanes/Oxley compliant.

4.Scheduled SANS/GIAC – Introduction to Security Monitoring Bootcamp class for entire team.

5.Developed and executed successful Business Continuity Plan for Security Monitoring team at Hertz.

6.Performed all hiring and terminations for Security Monitoring team that I managed.

Responsible for ensuring all production batch processing and activities were completed accurately and on-time for State of New York (Medicare/Medicaid contract). Responsible for job monitoring, setup, maintenance, and scheduling of production application systems, using ZEKE/ZEBB scheduling tools for 10-year contract. I was initially responsible for 12 night shift personnel, but 2 months later I was reassigned to Manager of dayshift and night shift and had 24 people reporting to me. Some of my accomplishments were:

1.Extremely proficient in job abend and JCL error determination/recovery/restarts on z/OS environment.

2.Interfaced with customers and management daily, to ensure efficiency of production schedules and successful escalation and completion of all production batch processing.

3.Ensuring successful planning and execution of Semi-Annual Disaster Recover testing that was performed offsite for State of New York Medicare/Medicaid contract.

4.Ensured all daily and weekly Service Level Agreements were maintained for State of New York contract with CSC. I

5.Responsible for all production issues after hours and weekends in 24 x 7 x 365 Data Center.

6.Responsible for all new-hiring and terminations for contract personnel in the data center.

Responsible for a team of 17 dayshift and nightshift Computer Operators and Production Support Analysts who monitored and supported all production batch processing 24 x 7 x 365 as well as performed troubleshooting and problem analysis of over 25,000+ batch jobs executing weekly in large multi-platform (MVS. VSE, AS400, UNIX) data center. Responsible for being involved with all hiring and terminations for the team as well as all Performance Reviews and Salary reviews. Some of my accomplishments were:

1.Implemented new Naming Standards for jobnames, procs, programs, libraries for new MVS operating system that had just been migrated from VSE to MVS at the Corporate Data Center. There were no naming conventions in place, which is critical when growing a new environment.

2.Responsible for assisting manager with successful installation of Diesel Generator to back up the data center in case of power failure.

3.Implemented routine offsite Disaster Recovery testing for Corporate Data Center. Coordinated and tested all corporate batch application processing at Disaster Recovery/Backup facility every six months. There were no D/R tests being performed initially when I was hired.

4.Successfully implemented CA-Scheduler automation tools to move from manual batch processing environment to automated batch environment. This significantly relieved operators of having to manually follow paper schedules and submit jobs manually. This improved overall productivity and efficiency of Operations by reducing errors with batch submissions as well as faster job execution and completion of schedules.

5.Proposed to Management and successfully implemented a Production Support environment after being employed for 1 year at Fleming Foods. There was no Production Support team in Operations and therefore, I was performing all batch production support myself 24 x 7 x 365.

6.Trained Operations, Production Support and Development teams on MVS/JCL and Connect: Direct.

7.Chaired daily Production Support / Operations turnover meetings.

8.Developed and implemented SOPs for Computer Operations and Production Support.

9.Assisted with converting corporate VSE production processing over to corporate MVS mainframe by assisting Developers and Systems Programming with MVS/JCL.

10.Coordinated and successfully converted from CA-Scheduler over to BMC Control-M/O/R automation tools. This project took 1 year to migrate from CA to BMC tools.

11.Successfully consolidated/merged Malone & Hyde Grocery & Drug Corporate data center processing into Flemings Corporate data center when Fleming bought Malone & Hyde.

12.Successfully consolidated/merged Scrivner Foods Corporate data center processing into Flemings Corporate Data Center when Fleming bought Scrivner Foods.

13.Successfully built and implemented over 400 batch jobs into live production environment when Fleming purchased new E3 Purchasing application for their corporate environment. These events were run on AS/400 and then initiated triggers for events on the Mainframe z/OS environment and vice versa. Created job flows reflecting all daily, weekly, and monthly processing.

14.Lead development and implementation of new monitoring, change management and problem tracking procedures using Peregrine software to log all changes and track all problems in I/T department, resulting in more efficiency in tracking, responding to, and resolving production issues. Provided Management with more detailed and greater problem reporting and reflection of volumes of tickets being handled by various I/T teams.

15.Reduced costs by coordinating and assisting with implementation of new changes via new release management system using SCLM/Cloud9/Breeze products that were migrated from ENDEVOR library management system.
