Worked in the group that is responsible for developing test patterns and automate testing of processor features. The project was developed to model and simulate the behavior of Intel's current and future processor technologies. Prior to this project, the manual system was time consuming and involves lot of complex calculations. This project automated the process of validating features (Thermal Throttling and Speed Step Technology) that were relevant to processor performance. Intel Speed Step technology is built in processor to enable dynamic frequency scaling by software depending in specific workload. Thermal Throttling algorithm finds optimal throttling point (decrease/increase V-F point) based on how hot or cold the system is. Throttling aims to reduce CPU temperature. The project helped in testing these features under various workloads and determined whether the feature worked as expected.

Responsibilities:

• Worked directly with the Intel CPU Architects to understand and analyze their requirements and implemented them.

• The primary responsibilities of the position include: front-end development and documentation, UI development, relationship database development and documentation, assist other developers in methodology documentation when needed.

• Designed and developed a high-level simulator application which was responsible for analyzing micro architecture features.

• Created GUI using C# and ASP.Net 2.0 which provides user with an automated test suite to choose from. User can choose the test he wants to perform to characterize CPU performance under various workloads and benchmarks.

• Extensively involved in database design and reviews. Database has all the data on which several tests will run. The data in database was created for variety of CPU behavior and workloads.

• Developed the database and wrote Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, Unions, Sequences and SQL queries to store and retrieve the data.

• Analyze and check the quality of database and the various other criteria for improving the performance.
